Great product, bad name....
« on: July 26, 2014, 10:09:07 PM »
I have just purchased and applied “ Yuk-Off Tyre and Sheen" spray it's made by "Henkel" Australia.

What a fantastic product!  :thumbs It doesn’t result in a “cheap and tacky” wet shine, it just brightens and cleans all the black plastic, rubber, framework and other bits beutifully!  :thumbsup, it leaves a very slight greasy coating (but not sticky) and allows less debris attraction and easier to clean afterwards.

I have OCD regarding bike maintainance and cleanliness and always use “Mothers” products. I mostly use "Mothers" spray on wax and plastic polish, but this stuff is really great and only $15.95 at Autobarn on sale!

Just be mindfull to avoid the tyre tread (sidewall is ok, sparingly) also avoid brake callipers, rotors and seats. It apears to be safe for everyhting else.
For those intending on commenting, with the usual "i never clean my bike, I just ride it", or "Mister Sheen is cheaper and better" quip,  please refrain, if at all possible, as I just beat you to it! :OldMan

Sounds good.

As noted, it pays to be very careful around the brake rotors, as any little bit of greasy material will severely reduce the effectiveness of the brakes.  In some cases it will penetrate the pads and ruin their life.
If it's a spray, I'd be applying it to a cloth and then wiping it onto the small area of tyre wall that has no tread.  That way you'll come out of the first corner rather than lay down in it.

After cleaning the bike, it obviously pays to test the brakes before you build any speed.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
