After a few weeks of checking out some TVs to replace our failing one we decided on a 3D 50 inch 4K TCL smart one.

We bought it home on Thursday (2nd) and set the WiFi up yesterday and tested the YouTube connection to make sure it worked. This morning I set up our PCs so we can now play media on the big screen.
Free to air broadcast viewing quality varies depending on the format so HD is better than SD but 1080HD is better than 720HD and the TV up scales it all to 4K. DVD/Blu Ray discs are much better. Our blu ray player up scales DVD to 1080 (same as blu ray) and the TV up scales that again to 4K. To get the 3D I'll need to get a new player/recorder but that's next years problem.
Our GoPro cam can capture 4K so I can test that out on our next ride but with a 32GB card it won't take long to fill so I'm looking at a 64GB or two before the rally next year.
