Another blast from the past... From my diary, January 1974
Jeff and I arrived on the Gold Coast at 1pm after a morning ride from Goondawindi through Toowoomba bypassing Brisbane, about 5 hour ride.
On the way, we hit a grasshopper plague near Millmerran and were totally plastered with bug guts.
We spotted a manual car wash as we reached Southport that had spray hoses, and pulled in to give the bikes a clean down and then turned the hose on each other (visors down) to clean our leathers. Apart from some hot water down the back of the neck, it was pretty effective. Got some really weird looks from other motorists, tho'.
