Stupid text message received :

Um... my phone is unlisted, a silent number, fool.
I had a couple of calls and similar, strange messages left on the home 'phone and then the mobile a few years ago, ignored them too.
Eventually answered one of 'em, intended to give the caller a serve. It turned out that the caller was the executor of an estate of a cousin of my Mum who (the cousin) had passed away about a year prior.
They (Mum and cousin) hadn't seen each other since they were kids in Bendigo 80 plus years ago. The cousin never married, no kids (that they knew of), no brothers or sisters and the estate of over $1M being left to the next of kin. This started off to be 12 cousins, but as some of these had died, it left the estate to be divided up between the remaining six surviving cousins.
Mum was guilty about receiving $150K plus, and wasn't gunna accept it, but changed her mind in the end.
Full marks to the executor for finding Mum's married name and as she is no longer listed in the White Pages, ringing all persons in the directory. Full marks for persistence as there are 26 with my surname listed in the VIC White Pages, and I'm no. 26.
My mobile is a work 'phone, not registered in my name. Never did find out how he got that number, glad he did though.
