Home from Armamoor.
Good fun outing- didn't cop too much flak for arriving on a Suzuki- might have been the OzSTOC jacket and cap saved me.
A very good turn-out for a weekday. Photos to follow.
The V-Strom? Fantastic little machine. It's a keeper.
It corners beautifully. Walks over any bumps in the corners. Cruises happily at 110 in 6th at 4800 RPM, just under the break-in 5000 max RPM.
6th is too tall for around town, so it's great to have a bike with such a wide gear range. The digital speedo is very nice, and I love the digital gear position indicator. It's actually better than the one on the Tenéré or Triumph Explorer.
On the way home I diverted in to Borumba Dam for a look, then tried out the Bellthorpe Range Road from Maleny- excellent fun. Mt Mee was a hoot. Fair dinkum- look at the advisory speed and add 30, even the low numbered ones. It's that good- on dual purpose tyres!
I came back through Dayboro and the low level light started flashing, so I filled up there. The 20 litre tank took 14.16 litres for 385 km- 72.8 mpg, 25.78 km/litre or 3.88 litres/ 100 km.
Looks like better than 460 km to the tank on a trip. The manual says 91 RON is fine, although the Suzi mechanic recommends 95.
It will need proper lights, horn and cruise control to approach FarRiding standard, but for a run like today's, it needs nothing. Once the rev limit goes beyond 5000 to the red line at 10,000 it will be even more fun, but the fuel economy will go out the window then.
