Very few of the speed limits in Australia make sense. The solid verses broken centre lines aren't much better.

On a different note yet not dissimilar,

  • I object to the mentality of, rather than repairing/improving roads - we'll just lower the speed limit and

  • I also wonder where most road engineers get their qualifications as I see many examples of poor road design and

  • don't even get me started on local councils with their so called "road calming solutions".

I acknowledge hardworking Australians no matter who they are or where they come from. All those who have contributed to this wonderful country deserve an equal share of gratitude for their contributions. To single any group of individuals out for special homage only denigrates the rest of us.

You are correct Adrian. Qld seems to have the worst road repair process in the country. The repairs themselves are extremely non-robust and unprofessionally done. I wished the crews who repaired them were made to drive their cars/motorbikes over it repeatedly!     :OldMan          :well

Victoria is the same as Qld . . They keep lowering their speedlimits on perfectly good roads in the name of making them safer and lowering their road accidents and fatalities . . It hasn't worked from that perspective . . They should try better driver training . .

Parts of old highways, previously posted at 100, have been lowered to 80 and less. Most roads in excellent condition . . Frustrating to travel on!
