Not pressing for it at the moment, Gary. Seems to be improving a little as time goes on.

I have organised a trip to collect my bike and get it home on 23rd June. 600 km round trip.
Discovered that the recovery charges are far more than double the cost for the three of us to drive there and back, including meals and drinks for the three of us for the day trip.
$374 charges for winching the bike onto the truck, and transporting it less than 900 metres, 4 blocks away?
...  I thought Ned Kelly was dead!
Police informed me that the driver has been hit with 6 charges but I do not have the details.

After my accident in 2012 I was told the other driver would be charged but I never heard anything after that.  As for recovery charges, wouldn't insurance cover that?

My insurance expired 3 days earlier, and the other driver has none. No point taking him to court, he has nothing of value, and is known locally as the town idiot. His repairs will be far higher cost than mine.

Why would you ride without insurance?

I pay insurance monthly and it auto re-knews the policy every 12 months if I don't take action. I still get the yearly renewal letter which will advise of any change the premium.

Have just walked in the door after trailering my bike home, been a long day.
A bit over 600 km round trip, we left home 7.45 this morning.

Most damage appears to be the plastics, the right hand side suffering the most. Front wheel appears undamaged, will be able to tell once I start stripping the bike down. Front forks appear straight, but again, cannot tell until they are removed. Both mirrors and plastics are kaput, as are both drop covers.
Right side rear pannier has a fist sized hole punched through the front corner, will check for further damage in daylight. Right side muffler is at an odd angle, but it might be just the bracket is bent. Ignition has been left switched on since the accident and the lithium battery is totally dead. No visible damage to radiator or motor.
Will post some pics tomorrow.

Kev...

I have a pair of OEM mufflers you can have (free), if you need them. They have had a steel rod hammered up em so they are marginally louder, but are in very good nick. I replaced them with a set of OEM's I got off of Saaz.

Cheers the can :-)

PS...worse case scenario, U could always buy my '58 Plover off me n finish up where U started from ;-)

I have a pannier lid (unsure of which side) but will advise....its white but your welcome to it.

Steveo may have some mirror covers that I gave him some years ago if he didn't use them  :think1

Its a (R) side pannier lid in fair condition....far better than yours anyway, and it was burgundy and had a very rough coat of primer applied.

But its yours if required...

Here's a couple of pics, hard to get any photos from the other side as the bike is surrounded at the moment.
I have ordered new mirrors, indicators and covers. Have most of the other plastics.

I'm going in for shoulder reconstruction surgery Friday week as a result of a taxi driver cutting through a gap in the traffic six months ago.  I have 3 out of 4 rotator cuff tendons torn, one hanging on by a few threads.  In the time since the accident the driver has been convicted of dangerous driving causing injury and leaving the scene of an accident, my bike has been repaired as good as new (thank you YOUI!), I have a new jacket and boots (thank you YOUI again!), the inflammation in my shoulder has gone down and my physiotherapy has loosened up the movement in my shoulder ready for the op.

But it'll be six weeks with my arm strapped to my torso and another six weeks on restricted duties.  My physiotherapist has told my wife that I'm not to do any housework for a year (my physiotherapist rides a motorbike and thinks we bike riders have got to stick together!)
At my age you realise something very important, then ten minutes later you've forgotten it.
