Tuning an ST1300

Hi all,

I'm pondering the idea of getting the Steed custom tuned. I don't see any need for more top-end power but I could be drawn by stronger mid, smoother fuelling, cooler operation, better economy etc.

Has anyone bothered to mess with ECU tuning on their ST1300 with any success ?

It appears that Woolich Racing supports tuning of the ECU in the 2008-2012 models, but know nothing about anything later (probably because 2012 was the last of the publicly released models). Mine is 2013 or 2014 like Shiney's but I suspect everything is the same as in 2012. 

Woolich wants to see a photo of the ECU so they can check.  Can anyone tell me where I would find the ECU ?

I just checked the wiring harness http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Motorcycle/2012/ST1300A%20AC/WIRE%20HARNESS/parts.html but no clue as to the location and item 11 is what you're looking for.

The part number http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detail/honda/HP-38770-MCS-R12.html covers 2008 and newer

I know that on my 1100A those items are left of (ABS) and behind (ECU) the gauge cluster.

Steve,

Our US brethren, have tried all sorts of things to improve the performance of both 1100 and 1300s. The only thing they managed to do was expend a lot of time and money. The torque curve of these motors, is pretty flat, and the they are pretty torquey

Spend the money on a cruise control.  More useful and will definitely work.

I wouldn’t waste my time either... the ST1300 is fantastic as it is... economy is excellent as well...

As is often the case, probably cheaper, easier and a lot more successful to just buy a faster/lighter/more powerful bike than "improve" an existing one.

Or just twist the throttle more.
