Hi Everyone,

I have been buying some new parts from David Silver Parts (UK) to give my bike a refresh.  One of these items was the Engine Crash Bar Covers, mine have been scraped from previous downs before I bought the bike and faded in the sun...

As it turns out, I selected the wrong model number of my bike not realising there were two:

Honda ST1100AY ABS PAN EUROPEAN 2000
Honda ST1100PY POLICE PAN EUROPEAN 2000

Anyways, I have a Right Hand - Engine Crash Bar Cover that will not fit my bike, and need the right one, so if anyone is in the market for one, its going cheap $40.00.

Send me a message if you would like to buy it from me... We can arrange something around postage if needs be... however, I will be at the RTE at Dunolly on Saturday so if anyone wants to bring cash along, its theirs...

J

They are the same part on most years - 1994/5 had two slightly different greys but interchangable

Yes they are the same number, but the actual bars are different.  There is no way this will fit on my bike, so it is surplus to requirements.

It has to fit - there's no other option.

The wing cover is pushed in and then held in with a bolt underneath.

The crash bars are slightly different behind the fairing but identical where the wing cover goes. The AY diagram wasn't to clear so tried my AX diagram but looks to be the same image.

So at what age does this "old enough to know better" kick in?

Hi,

Just to show you the difference, downloaded from David Silver Spares...

The first one, according to David Silver - Part No: 64260-MAJ-G00ZA

The second one, according to David Silver - Part No: 64260-MT3-000ZA

Minor change in Part Numbers.

It is the one with the hole that will not fit, the bars do not match up, and there is no screw underneath to hold it in place.

Been doing a little research.

It would have helped had he mention that the part that wouldn't fit came from 1994 and earlier or 2003P Part No: 64260-MT3-000ZA

in 1995 the design and part where changed slightly to make 64260-MAJ-G00ZA

But the 2003P went back to 64260-MT3-000ZA

His opening post suggested AY and PY which is year 2000 which has 64260-MAJ-G00ZA

If he wishes to sell that's ok but it will only fit 2003P (model year not year of first registration) plus 1994 and earlier

Hi,

That may well be true, I am sure you and many other know the 1100’s history better than I do... all I know is that my bike is a 2000... and a PY model.

I don’t know if David Silver has it wrong on his website but the pictures show the model of item for the respective AY and PY

Thanks Brock, Don't suppose you know anyone who does want to buy the top one.

If there is no-one who wants it I will put it on eBay, I wanted to give everyone on here a chance first.

I get my part numbers from here http://www.st-1100.com/st1100-parts.html and there is always the chance of an error but I also look at Partzilla (US) Blue City (SA) and David Silver.

The AY part (one with hole) is good for 1100 and 1100A from (US) 1995 - 2002. https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/64260-MAJ-G00ZA The hole is there it allow for what could be used to assist in retrieving the bike.

20180315_155729 by Alan, on Flickr

The one without the hole covers 1991- 1994 1100 and 1100A and 2003P (US) https://www.partzilla.com/product/honda/64260-MT3-000ZA Nothing specific about earlier US Police years and looking at Blue City all the Police years would have this part.

Looking at Blue City we don't have a 2003P listed - looks like error in the parts list site I use so I will advise him of that error. But in saying that I get the US 2003P part used on our 2000PY another error

On seeing that pic, it looks like that variant allows the crash bar to be used a a tie down point.
