Interesting problem occurred to me yesterday. When I arrived at the ground to play soccer, I pulled into the parking bay to park the bike when all power cut out on the bike, then came back on again and I restarted the bike to continue parking. This happened three times before I got the bike into the parking spot. I was running late to play, so didn't investigate anything on causes. After the game I went to start the bike, nothing, no lights, dash or headlights. Got a little concerned as daylight was fading, all the team-mates had gone, was worried I would have to leave the bike in an isolated park, alone and homeless.
On further investigation, this is what I found. When I sat astride the bike and turned the handlebars straight, all the dash and headlights came on. when I turned the handlebars to the left, all the lights went off. To my relief, I could at least get the bike home. Just had to take care doing left turns. Got home ok with the bike, fully dark by then, very pleased to have it at home.
My theory is a loose connection or worn insulation on a wire causing the electrics to short out. Wont be investigating until later in the week, but advice from you guys would give me a starting point on the investigation.
This is the first 'glitch' since rebuilding my bike 7yrs ago and 50,000klms.
Cheers, Hobs
