By way of trivia, my YG-1 (and I believe Pete’s yammy  also) were made by Bridgestone.

https://classic-motorbikes.net/classic-bike-images/bridgestone-classic-motorcycles/

The Autolube system meant that you could fill it up at the pump with standard fuel.

No photos of my first bike, a 1948 98cc 2 speed (hand change) James. My older brother gave up on it due to oil leaks and it jumping out of gear.
I rescued it, fixed the oil leaks and gear problem.
This is a link to one that was sold recently.

https://www.mecum.com/lots/LV0120-403690/1948-james-comet/

Interesting that summary below the photo says it was a 3 speed yet in the write up below it correctly called is a 2 speed.
The write up also talks about a torpedo oil tank but it was a 2 stroke using premix petrol, the "topedo" tank was a tool box.
I remember I could fill the tank for 20 cents. I have this feeling that in 1968 you could buy 2 stroke premix direct from a bowser does anybody remember that?,
If anybody knows how to pull the photos from the add I would love to have them as I guess the add will disappear soon.

Wow. That really is a beauty.

On an iPad just touch on the pic for a few seconds and you get a pop up to save it. On a PC you’d usually right-click and save.

Thanks for the suggestion Steve. I use a laptop and the old right click didn't work. Looks like ruSTynutz has it sorted for me but I will try my wife's Ipad as a matter of interest.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Ahh. So that’s what it is. I saw one of those in the city last year and was intrigued by the idea of a baby ST. Unfortunately it wasn’t in. Sry good shape.

Kawasaki GT750.
Yet another of the bikes I drooled over in the Uni car park as a youngster. Basically anything with a fairing and a shaft....

Just came across the photos of the CX500Ec Rusty, it bought back memories because I had the same bike for a few years too. I'd previously had a cx500 with the aftermarket full fairing and panniers. It took me on a 200km round trip to Uni and back for three years, usually riding back along the freeway to the Blue Mountains at night. Lots of fun. The headlight was terrible so I'd usually flick in behind a rapid car once it passsed me. I got the CX500EC second hand. Saw it advertised and thought it looked great. Again, nice bike to ride but a bit small for my 196cm frame so traded it on an ageing BMW R100RT, but thats another story! I'll dig out some old photos and post them soonish. Does anyone else wish they'd kept all their old bikes? I could open a museum if I had.

Cheers Rod!  :beer

I'll look forward to seeing your photos... :thumbs

I kept the ol' CX for close to 30 years. Finally sold it for next to nothing as I'd moved into a Unit and was pushed for room.
It needed restoring as it had sat in an open shed and hadn't been started in probably 10 years or more.
It was a real shame seeing it like it was but I was in no position at the time to bring it back to it's former glory.
A bloke in Townsville bought it...  :'(
