It seems that there have been a few cases where the person didnt have any symptoms, so didnt know they had been exposed let alone contracted the bug.

Fortunately, we have had very few wild cases in WA, and all traceable to the ship passengers.

I mainly did so as I figure the more who download it the quicker restrictions will be lifted and I guess if someone tests positive after being near me for 15 minutes I can then be notified.I just don't understand why the time is not a lot shorter the
an 15 minutes. I also fine it drains the battery a little.

I reckon its a waste of time... :Stirpot

If I happen to be standing in line at the supermarket checkout and there's someone coughing up a lung it's not gonna show up on the app unless I spend 15 minutes there with him/her. Hardly likely that's gonna happen...  :||||

Agree, My reason is that the government has for many years, under many differing legislations (and some quite obscure due to their naming processes) attempted to erode our privacy and freedoms. All you have to do is see what Dutton has been trying to pass over the last four weeks. (If he succeeds, imagine being a 14 year old arrested  and being denied access to your family or a solicitor, and that is the tip of that iceberg) I would be a slow adopter of anything introduced by this government and only after I have heard, seen and analysed all evidence and views beforehand.

I'm with Stinky Pete and West Aussie Glen. Anything that can help the health authorities contain and control this virus, the better and anything that will go towards lifting the restrictions - the better. I prefer to live in a free society which puts the good of the community first.

Oh,  I also think any WA Ozstoc member, living in WA, should be permitted to visit Border Village, in pristine SA, on the weekend of 1 and 2 August 2020, PROVIDED, they have downloaded the Covid19 phone app. Can't be fairer than that!

And whilst we are on COVID, this is an interesting chart, and puts things into persepective.

I like the stats Michael, but like it says, they are global. They are grossly misrepresented by places such as the USA who has a president providing snake oil cures, Brazil with a President that is probably hoping to wipe out crime through a rising death toll in the "favelas", and a few other few nations. To better compare, we should base our understanding on Australian models/statistics and please do not misunderstand, as I am not playing down the risks, Covid shares many of its markers with the common flu. To date, we have suffered the loss of 103 souls to COVID whilst in 2018 we lost 3102 to influenza. Both are distributed by airborne and on contact. Ask yourself, why do we not have the same level of urgency for, in Australia, an equally transmittable disease year in and year out? Notice that I did not mention the other death rates by other diseases as they are either non transmittable or comparable, although many claim more lives. And here is where I put my Quack hat on, the others do not seem to have as direct an impact on commerce/industry/lobbyist interests. And if that is not enough of a conspiracy theory, have a look at the legislations the government has been working out whilst we've been distracted.

I’m in the ‘just do it’ camp.  Anyone with a Google account has most likely already handed over copious amounts of personal data, without giving it much thought, to a company that a ashamedly sells it for commercial gain. I remember the press update where Brendan Murphy demonstrated how well Aussies had responded to the lockdown restrictions by showing a graph of our travel habits over recent months.  Info drawn from Google.
A man rides on his STeed, says “Why am I short of attention? Got a short little span of attention”.

You can call me Steve, with apologies to Paul Simon.

Has the COVIDSafe app been worth it?
https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/coronacast/has-the-covidsafe-app-been-worth-it/12292620

Thanks for that link, I found it interesting and after listening am happy I downloaded it.
From a privacy situation and a battery use if one is concerned about either simply turn bluetooth on when you are out and about and it off when you are 100% sure you are not likely to come in contact with someone with the virus.
Has the CovidSafe app been worth it ? well it worked in finding a person it Victoria who otherwise most probably wouldn't have know they had been in contact with Covid 19 and I guess it is like insurance you only know if it works when you need it.

Guys,

I would rather know that they can trace where the source came from, that way they can treat all before it gets away again.

For those who who have doubts about Covid 19 and events leading up too it, this may interest you:

Warning there is disturbing information information in this documentary:
