Julie and I got home about 5pm this evening after a short but very enjoyable trip across Eyre Peninsula to Elliston. After disembarking the ferry at Lucky Bay on Friday we rode to Cowell then up to Kimba on a surprisingly good bitumen road and then across to Kyancutta and down the recently sealed road to Mt Wedge and then Bramfield (ah, smell the herbs) and Elliston. Pete and Chris had the cuppa's ready and Bodo had beaten us to Elliston despite us leaving a day earlier.
Sunday we rode to Lock's Well, Mt Hope, Cummins. Yallunda Flat, Ungarra, Lipson (more herbs), Lipson Cove (an absolutely pristine little cove with 1/2 dozen camp sites, soon to be "developed" as a grain and mineral port - not surprisingly a few locals are a bit cranky about "progress" encroaching), Pt Neill and finishing at Cleve. Today we checked out Observation Hill (or colloquially known as Ticklebelly Hill) at Cleve (they had enemy plane spotters there during WW2 - 2 hour shifts, 24 hours a day - one wonders if anyone ever saw a plane) and Yeldulknie Weir before cruising the hills and making our way to the Ferry.
