Yet another YouTube video...https://youtu.be/qA6hqEAvMPo?si=r7Sixy3fpocVyhch

I was interested in the power & torque figures quoted but did wonder about their accuracy when the guy said the SOUO was a 2000cc inline 4!  :rofl

GWM SOUO            *216.9nm @4500rpm   180hp
                               vs
HONDA GOLDWING *169.4nm @5500rpm   125hp

* I converted the figures from ft lb to nm as the figures quoted meant nothing to me...  :grin

Well it is, if you look at just one side of the bike.  Maybe he didn't realise there's another bank of cylinders on the other side...

Amusing to see the multiple references to it as a 'car' and a 'station wagon'.

I wonder how they will price it if it comes to Aus.  288,800 RMB for the top model converts to $63k AUD per the exchange rate. I don't think that's going to work against a GoldWing.

Yes, something got lost in the translation, me thinks...  :rofl

I doubt it very much too...
If it makes it to OZ, I reckon it would have to be somewhere around the Goldwing pricewise to even get a look in...  :think1

Actually it's 21,880 RMB, ie. is around AU$48K, and despite being way outta my range, there'll likely be the odd (in more ways than one) buyer around here and OS.

218,800 is the bottom end model without the topbox and probably also missing some other fancy bits, so probably it would face off against the bagger version of the Wing. Either way, I reckon I’d take the Wing for proven reliability and for a front view that doesn’t scare kids. That radiator cowl is something else.

461kg curb weight, add rider and pillion - more than 600kg. Might as well buy a Mazda MX5 ($43K) - at least one can travel in comfort in winter and still have the wind in your face in summer.

I probably would too, assuming I had the cash...
But, the Souo does makes the Wing look a bit behind the times, especially when it comes with blind spot monitoring, a 12.3-inch touchscreen and over-the-air updates plus it eats the Wing for breakfast when it comes to horsepower and torque...

2c worth.
GWM was "Great Wall Motors". That I think was the first time around.
BYD, as I understand it, is "Bring Your Dil#o". You can guess the rest.

Major pass on both, though.

Goodbye.  :grin

Major pass on both, though.

In the early days I can remember Dad and an uncle saying something similar about Jap Crap, and many of our generation saying something similar re. Korean cars.

Dad always bought Ford Zephys and Falcons and would probably turn in his grave everytime someone in the family bought a Japanese or Korean car.  On the otherhand Uncle Jack bought one of the original 1964 Datsun Bluebirds for my aunty to zip and town, then a Gen 1  Honda Civic.  Dad and Uncle Jack would argue about cars, they both won.

Never say never,
