My daughter's last football match for the season is on the sunday so overnighting is out for me.  A lunch on a saturday would be doable though.

I've just been notified of a one off event I'd rather like to attend. I don't suppose there's any chance of moving the date a week earlier or a week later?

What are people's thoughts?

A lunch only would be too far for most people to ride in a day.

Moving it a week later will put it into school holidays, a week earlier still creates issues for those with Sunday soccer commitments (Bodø).

Who would be interested in attending the ride anyway?

It may be best to have an RTE not so far distance wise & reschedule this till later.

Maybe hold the Mintaro RTE in September & Cradock in November? That would suit me - I'm actually in Mintaro that weekend in September for the Clare Valley Festival of Lamb & possible won't make the November RTE regardless of location.

Thoughts & suggestions welcome.

School holidays AGAIN???!!! Kids of today have more time off than a retiree  :OldMan !

I'm ok with the following week and I'm also ok with Cradock in November, so lets see what the majority have to say.
We stayed at the Cradock pub last year - accommodation was better than the average older country pub and reasonably priced if I remember correctly.

*cough cough* football

No much further than Port Augusta West (we went to the Arid Lands Café once)

The following weekend is the Steel Horse Society's ride and the venue is the Stump and Magpie at Mintaro.  I'm not sure if they know it's school holidays or not.

That said, if it's a lunch I'm not overly fussed where we go.

I'm away for 2 weeks starting the day b4 so would be interested in November.  Would most likely tie this in with a Flinders gorges ride.

I'm keen on Cradock at any time as an overnight, but Chris won't be able to make it due to dog duties.  If we took the van, Chris wiould miss the meal.

I've been mulling this over.

Given the distance, I don't really think a trip up & back on the one day is feasible for most of us, now that the majority are "retired". 4 1/2 half hours each way, plus lunch and other stops make it a long day.

Attendance for an overnight in September would be, I think, minimal given current comments. .

The weather in November should be on the improve, with longer days and heading into summer.

If we went for a November overnight to Cradock on the 15th November instead of Mintaro, I'm sure we'd be able to sit outside for a Chris and dog friendly dinner - they do have some outdoor seating available.

We could switch the Mintaro meal to September 20 - the Pub will have a special lamb based menu on for the Festival of the Lamb.

As I said in an earlier post, I'll be in Mintaro that weekend anyway so it suits me, but other views welcome.

I'll be an apology for the October RTE at Cape Jervis - I'll be in Cambodia & will be back just before the current November RTE date, so will probably miss that as well.

Thoughts and comments are welcome.

Cheers

Michael

Cradock in November, Mintaro in September - sounds good to me Shillas, it's got my vote. And riding and pillioning a passenger for 8 hours plus isn't my idea of fun.
