Well, it looks like the time has come.

I think my bike will be going off the road. The bike hasnt moved since November last year,there is some maintenance that needs doing ( coolant hoses and timing belt ( I have the parts [some where], but the backyard isnt the place to do the work) rego is due (450ish $, battery is dead (200ish$). Its money I cant spare , and no enthusiasm at the moment so I will be handing the plates in.

Its been a good ride, 170000ish Ks over a lot of years..

This time will catch up with all of us at sometime, but at your tender age Brock, I am surprised.  Regardless, all the best for your future sans an ST.

I've made the decision to move the ST1300 on, get something smaller.  I hoping for another 5, perhaps 10 years before I give up riding.

I can certainly see your problem, Brock- the bike is just a money pit once you stop riding it.  Especially with rego ticking over relentlessly- it's amazing how quickly a year flies when annual fees are involved.  It will be hard to sell the bike without doing the maintenance, and once it's off the rego, people are wary of getting it up to roadworthy standards again, which makes an old bike very unimpressive.

I'm hoping the Sypder gives me another 5 to 10 years. My main concern is parts and maintenance as it's already 10 years old. I don't know if I'll have the money for an upgrade down the track.

Fair call mate, as Biggles said if you're not using the bike it is a waste of money.
This was the same reasoning I had for getting rid of my car years ago, I wasn't using it as I was only using the ST and rego and insurance on a v6 was expensive.

If you are keeping the ST and later find the enthusiasm again you can give it another go.

Come on Glen, its only been about 5 years that you n Wombat have been nagging me about that. Now that the bike has been sitting for so long, that will be needed as its probably stiffened up a little.
