Getting ready for Canberra
« on: February 20, 2026, 06:05:19 PM »
Well hopefully it’s a trouble free run to Canberra after a heap of TLC has been completed on the old girl, timing belt, radiator, fork seals, new from rubber, spotlights and full service, shake down run this weekend just to be sure, looking forward to the trip.
Leaving Gladstone Thursday morning heading inland towards Singleton, then do the putty road on Friday morning on the way to Canberra.

Well that was a productive day, 935 kms on the saddle heading the long way to Canberra, taking 3 days to head down to Wodonga via the Putty road and Mt Panarama, first stop today Armidale, now it’s time for a beer

Everything is starting to get exciting
Two more sleeps
Robyn and I headed off from Toowoomba in the cage today with the OzSTOC shop and Rally shirts
No way I could have gone on the bike but all good as I have my better half with me
Robyn doesn't do the bike anymore. Probably the sensible one
We are driving to Tamworth for tonight then Bathurst before arriving in Sutton on Friday arvo
See you all there  :hatwave

Arrived this afternoon at 5:15pm after having two thirds of the trip in rain , went through downpour after downpour until just south of Gundagai then it turned out hot , so my cabin is a drying room .

Any feedback on the M7 around Sydney Biggles? Cost for MC?

Not the M7, but Nigel, Shillas & I rode around Sydney on the way south from Toowomba last year, the route was someting like this.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/bRnNJjQmBxKjLWVeA

The expressway/freeway/tollway was a vastly significant improvement on previous ride from the north to the southeast suburbs, very good road, a lot of trafffic but still quick, very hot in a couple of the tunnels, clean air though.

A summary of the tolls are attached.  Not cheap, but at $27.20, well worth it.

In November 2024, we planned to take the same route with the caravan.  Heard on a ABC report a couple of mornings prior that the car and caravan charge was around $63.00.  Further reports that rain was forecast along the south coast for the week, we changed plans, went inland.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Northconnex costs $10.25 each way on the bike, so not cheap.  But it's quick!  I find it to be noisy. Add $10.17 for the M2/M7  and it's a bit of a bite!
