Fuel Prices
« on: March 16, 2026, 08:16:00 PM »
This is going to be a hot topic for a while.

A snapshot from Petrol Spy, it depicts the highest prices around Melbourne at 21:00 16 March 2026.

Have around 40 litres remaining in the Jeep, it'll probably last me a coupla months.  If price don't drop by early May our planned three month caravan holiday is gunna hurt.

Some of our EV owning colleagues might have the last laugh.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Ouch! Was lucky enough to top off the Patrol before leaving for Canberra at $1.79 for 98.

Watching the cobwebs appear now for a little while.

Patrol has a 140L tank, so you'd better have some awesome cake and coffee before asking me to come visit!   :crackup :crackup :crackup

Same = Filled the cruiser up at $1.62 before the rally, only for my intuition to nag me into taking the Kia to the rally instead - 138 litres of liquid gold sits in that tank now  :grin

Might’ve been a glitch with Fuel Spy last night, today’s high prices, except for Shell, aren’t as high.  Lower prices seem to be around, but still mostly a $ more than a couple of weeks back.

Petrol Spy has another huge glitch, or add a $1 on to above prices.

It's a hobby I've pickedup.

Instead of a routine 9 - 5 I did for decades, every now & again I decide I'll let someone pay me for a limited time for 12 hour days, which then greatly increases my play money for travel & motorbikes.  :rofl

Nice, but won't have any effect. At the most they will get a slap on the wrist and told not to be so naughty again.

Those thieves would currently be welcome in Melbourne. An example of our lowest prices.

Paid $2.95 for 98 at the Nullarbor Roadhouse on my way home from the rally (arrived home Monday afternoon after a total 8,641 kms). I was just happy to be able buy petrol and get home.

I just arrived home from an IBA trip down the Newell and back up the New England.  Nearly everywhere 91 was $2.399 to $2.499.  Brisbane is $2.399.  Very few pumps had "Unavailable" tags.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
