Motorway tags - which one
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:03:10 PM »
Ladies and Gentlemen, which Motorway tag do you have (is it for national use) and where do you secure it, so they can be read by the overhead readers on the motorways.

I need to get one.

Cheers in advance.

Not required in SA but if I was visiting a state that had toll roads I would be avoiding those roads......my GPS is set up to avoid toll roads.

I agree with Brian, no tag needed in QLD and that's valid country wide.

We have 2 motor ways in Melbourne  which uses tolls. The Monash freeway you don't have to pay tolls on motor bikes, which is handy if you are passing through melb from ACT area to the National in March. Then we have East link freeway that you do have to pay tolls on. I try and stay off that freeway as it cost a fair bit :blk13

Go-via was not around when I got my tag. It seems video matching fees may apply in some places, so depends where you are going.

If you want a tag you can get one through the RTA NSW website (or that go-via one). There was a deposit when I got mine bu, no ongoing account fees and you can set up automatic payment top ups. You register up to 5 (I think) vehicles for the tag. It will work on all the Australian toll roads (NSW, Vic and Qld)  I have my car, the ST and the wifes car on it.  As I don't go on those roads that often the cost does not worry me, particulary if I just want to get through Sydney from the ACT going north or just get into the centre of Sydney.  I usually use the ring road in Melbourne so tolls are not an issue.

You city folk.....

Grab a piece of grass and stick in the month.

A Toll is a transport company here..... But give them time.
