Hi All,
I have just had my Metzeler Tyre replaced by Tyres for Bikes and The problem has been solved.
Dave from Tyres for bikes put the old tyre on his balance shaft before removing it off the rim and it was so far out of balance that the heavy bit went to the bottom immediately when let go from any position.
Dave is now taking the issue up with Metzeler in Sydney.
To recap for those who did not know what the issue was, I had a virabration coming from the rear tyre between 88-100ks.http://ozstoc.com/Smileys/default/bk13.gifhttp://ozstoc.com/Smileys/default/thumbs.gifhttp://ozstoc.com/Smileys/default/thumbs.gifhttp://ozstoc.com/Smileys/default/hat1.gif
Also working with Dave at Tyres for Bikes, Albion, I tried a replacement Metzeler Z8 to replace the one previously fitted about 1 month ago. I was getting a similar vibration problem to Young One right from the outset. The replacement tyre was a little better and probably serviceable. The final decision was to ditch the Metzeler altogether and go back to Bridgestone 023 and Voila, problem solved.
Took the bike out today for a run over Mt Mee, Peachester, Maleny, Kenilworth, Mapleton and back along much the same route and all seems good. Certainly spells the end of any future possibillity of using Metzeler Tyres. I am now wondering about also dropping the Metzeler Z6 off the front and using Bridgestones front and rear. The bike handles just as good with the Bridgestone and Metzelers seem like a bit of a lucky dip!
