Top weekend get together. Got there late because of family matters but pleased to see they had thoughtfully lit the fire for us. A couple of Bundabergs best brown ones and well warmed. Nice feed, good entertainer, warm bed. A slight chill this morning (for Ebor standards) with some rooms unfortunately not able to get water from their taps. Some bikes a little hard to start for the 300me ride to breakfast (mine started to ice up by the time we got there), but the food was good and coffee hot. On towards home with another stop for the famous 'curly fries' at the Kentucky store (we had to fight with Chris to get any) and home in beautiful sunshine. What a lovely day to be alive and riding ST's.

Totally agree with STeveo re the overnighter at Ebor!  Great food, exceptional company plus a warm and cosy venue, you could ask for nothing better. The ride to and from was also exceptional.  Certainly glad to hit the coast this morning after a -6 degree start to the day and NO hot water, brrrrrrrrrr...gotta love that!  Hope everyone that attended has a safe ride back home.  See you all at the next ride perhaps?

Here you go Abe just for you.....the very famous Kentucky shop curly fries, as shown by an OzSTOC Mod Model....

A must stop if coming into Ebor from Oxley Hwy or Thunderbolts way

This is get even time for me. You were all told that I ate a bowl of curly fries, well here's the proof that my hubby ST2UP attacked to bowls with great greed.  :p

Thanks everyone! I had a ball! Got home in one piece at about 7:30 tonight and never dropped the bike once.  So proud of myself!

Special thanks to Chris and Pockey for organising everything and for taking us on a fabulous ride around the Dorrigo mountain ranges on Saturday morning.

As already mentioned above, the food, entertainment and great company made for an excellent Christmas in Ebor (July).

Best of all, I came home with a my new Earmold and Senna 10 system that kept me bopping all the way home.  I was SToked!

When's the next RTE? I better go check?
Red, loud, rowdy, and proud.

I don't want a pickle...I just wanna ride my motorcikle!

Yeh we thawed out okay and were pretty glad it was as sunny day.

We joined TC at Dorrigo Hospital (bad case of gastro) and had a pretty enjoyable ride home.

I had a great time guys n gals, good company / good music / good food and a warm room
Saaz I hope you manage to get enough sleep what with all my snoring/coughing and farting.
although nice and warm I did not get much sleep due to this wog,
cool morning and Rhonda was not happy so  she required a jump. Then was purring like a kitten.
Top breaky had a chat a chat and then headed home.

the road between Grafton and Ebor ooooh what hoot except for a 4x4 cutting the corner on my side
at least this one eyed old codger still has a quick reaction on a bike.
Went to the coast on the way home another top corner road although only a short 1 and then the terrible ride to Grafton, sheeez.
Any way got home around 4pm quite sore but ready to go again this morning.

Glad everyone had a good safe time.  Sad I'm missing these great rides- Bilo is out too.
Looks like a few people need to invest in a bike cover.  Even dew is a PITA if you have a sheepie.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Ebor - A Dragon's Tale

The day b4 takeoff to Ebor, I attempted to get my rear tyre off with this levered setup. It failed. I would do one side, rotate to do the next bit and the first part would pop back on. A2Z was helping but we couldn't get the tyre off. Must ask Saaz how he gets his tyres off. Turns out he has a machine. Anyway, the dealer popped the new tyre on the rim and b4 nightfall I had the new PR3 ready to go with balancing beads in both tyres thanx to Saaz.

After an eventful day where I found out late that Abe wasn't coming, A2Z and I were separated in Sydney traffic and Saaz was held up in motorway traffic. We all met up again about 40kms from Ebor. Found the Ebor Falls Hotel/Motel. The room was spacious and clean.

Next morn, ST2UP and PocketSTOCker arrived to take myself, Saaz and A2Z for some mountain rides and views. I learnt a lot about riding the ST that day by watching longtime riders like ST2UP and Saaz get round the bendies with minimum effort and maximum progress. There they were: Conjoined twins ST2UP and Pockie leaning back like "Easy Riders", feet up on the cruiser pegs and I'm thinking they should name their STeed "Peter Fonda" and wear bandannas as helmet liners! NuckNuckNuck. Buzzinga! A2Z was following them smoothly as well and Saaz is a master at riding the speed limit and using the lean of his STeed to get him thru the windeys with minimum fuss. Meanwhile I was fussing over the right gear to be in, trying different lines thru different corners, accelerating up the straights and eventually giving up the chase and enjoying the views.

Here's Saaz taking fotos on the Skywalk at the Dorrigo Nature Reserve and restaurant.

Really like this foto taken by Saaz who got ahead of the group in time to set up the scene. U can see Wyvern the Dragon's eyes concentrating on any traffic that dares to cross his path. Getting the file from Saaz to print and frame.

Tipsy, from Qld was one of the first to arrive on Saturday afternoon.

Steveo and Wendy were there from relatively nearby Tamworth. Had a nice snack with them at the Kentucky Cafe.

Brad and Karen Bluehonda came from the Taree area on their Black STeed that was Jack Frost White for their ride home with TC who was laid up in hospital overnight with a sudden gastro infection. Apparently Brad and Karen got Terry back on his ST for a steady ride back home. I shared accom with Brad and Karen and enjoyed their company immensely. Brad, a motorcycle advanced riding instructor, like me, enjoys being at the back of the pack with a more defensive riding style.

This cheerful man, known sometimes as "The Traveller",  I got into a conversation with during the previous night's entertainment was Jochen50's riding buddy. TT told me a fascinating story of how well he came out of a breakdown incident way out in the sticks, where, by freakish good luck a mobile phone tower was within sight.  A call to NRMA Platinum Roadside Assistance got his stricken bike trailered to a repair shop and accommodation provided. Best $200 he has ever spent, he said. Jochen was there and signed up himself straight away.

A close look at Jochen50's black ST revealed that it has also a golden fleck metallic paint identical to ST2UP's STeed. I saw ST2UP's reaction to this where he was seen shaking his head in disbelief, jaw on the ground digging a furrow and murmuring and weeping and slobbering out the words "There can't be another one like mine, not with the golden flecks, can't be ... Pockie, come here, I need u darlin'".
Anyway there were serious consequences, as A2Z was backing his red dragon 1300 to what he thought was clear space, and, you guessed it, he hit the furrow that Chris's jaw had just dug and down he went again. Pockie was there to help. NuckNuckNuck. Buzzinga!

Good report ST.George.  You forgot to mention that the Dragon also has a mighty growl! that does not show up in the photos.  For those looking at the photos, look to the Two Brothers mufflers on the Dragon.

As for riding the ST through corners, very similar to my GS1000 I have owned since 1980...be smooth, pick the line and accelerate through.  A large heavy bike but with good handling, so keep it steady without wobbling like a pudding if you star being fancy.  I am not a shove into corner and shoot out type, more of a Moto2 rider style of keeping the speed up through corners.
