A dirty weekend farkling & draining fluids
« on: August 19, 2013, 11:57:48 PM »
My list of to-do items have been growing for some time , culminating in a dirty weekend hastily arranged after the last parts were delivered/picked up late last week.
I had been hesitant to take all the plastic off for the 1st time to do just a few things so decided to do everything in 1 hit.
I started saturday morning by removing the fairings then draining, flushing & replacing the radiator coolant,
hoses and installing a protective Grille.

Next job was to remove the HID lights, install original bulbs & replace the dead marker bulbs with PIAA leds.

I finished off with mounting a Stebel horn & police brackets with PIAA Led driving lights.
Sunday i replaced the fuel filter ($96) & gasket. The old filter was particularly dirty....

Monday it was time to wire up the horn & driving lights, wash & put the plastic back on then clean up the mess !
It probably took alot longer than it should have, but i did allow time for the " oh   :cuss "  factor.
I would encourage any of our members that are hesitant to work on their own bike to give it a go.
I found it a very rewarding experience , a great learning curve and even managed to broadcast a few long forgotten obscure
swear words into the bargain  :grin

On another note, I've been knocked back by Bunnings 3 times this week. I applied for 1. Special Order Clerk 2. Team Supervisor and 3. Team Member. I got to the first interview for the team member but got an email " thanks but no thanks". And an email earlier in the week for the first 2.

Shit, I can't even score a job at Bunnings..... :'(. How useless can a Man get...

Good job well done.  Just as well you took the fairings of or you would not have discovered that bottle hiding in there  :beer

Great work there D4 member.

Luckily you had "Bud" there to assist with the finer details of the installs.

Any finished photo with your lights fitted.

Cheers

Hi Abe - I will get some pics tonight of the new lights when I adjust them .
Sabie - not getting a job at Bunnings is the best thing that could happen to you.
I hear Masters is a much nicer place to work  :o

Hi Shiney , the parts were sourced from Blue City honda in Mt Gambier,Team moto slacks creek & pro honda
at rocklea. Radiator protector via the Uk & Piaa lights & bulbs from the US. Stebel sourced from Geebung.
Prices were typically astronomical for most of the parts from dealerships.
Farkles were reasonably priced & your Stebel horn install "how to" came in very handy indeed  :thumb

You did well getting all those farkles on in three days, obviously including a fair bit of standing back and sucking the sauce.
Radiator guard looks good.
Intestines spread out on old jeans looks scarey.    :eek
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

A few Brew-ha-ha's were had while contemplating the complexities on saturday, although wisely not a drop until after the fuel pump was done on sunday  :beer

Can't believe they'd knock back someone with your experience. They probably employed some spotty, wet behind the ears twerp they can pay junior rates to do the job.  Keep trying mate, you'll get something soon. Pity you weren't a comms tech, I'm looking for a new offsider for a year. I have to sort through the applicants tomorrow and short list them.
