HID's
« on: January 06, 2012, 07:23:15 AM »
A while ago it was discussed about AC and DC powered HID kits.

I can't find the thread about this, so here go's.

I just received an email from Loudroom Creations in Adelaide with a responce to my question about the HID kit I purchased not long ago.

Their kits are AC. :runyay

There was posted a tech report about AC/DC powered lights and AC was the better of the two as these were more efficient and lasted longer.
Thanks, to the person who gave us this information as I feel it is important that we know what is best.

I'm willing to offer my services, to remove and replace fairings on ST1300's, as I have had a bit of practice lately.
All I ask is that you pay the airfares. :thumb

It was me I think in the ST13 thread (not that I look there that much   :crackup )

I am going to try a digital ballast I have as a spare on my driving lights as I have a wandering beam pattern that annoys me (not obvious while riding but when you are in the garage it is obvious) that may mean the bulb will fail prematurely.

Stay tuned.  :well

BTW I will do ST13 installs a lot cheaper, as I have no experience in removing the panels properly so I will do it more quickly as they are not my busted bits    :rofl

Hi Scarp,

This is the kit I bought. Because it is for a commodore it has two already. The cable between is easily cable tied on the bars behind the headlight .

Normally a couple cups of tea and all the required parts supplied to finish the job.

Those kits look quite ok. The inclusion of a wiring harness and relay is one thing to look out for, as some of the car kits just plug into the exisiting headliht power circuits.

If anyone's interested I have a couple of HID Hi/Lo with wiring harnesses for free on the Gold Coast. I have an Idea one might be missing a ballast that you can pick up off Ebay for a few dollars. Nahhh not going to post em

I'm about to retry my HID install using a headlight cutout by-pass switch this time so that I can switch the headlights/HIDs on independently and not make them go through the on/off/on cycle that the OEM Headlight setup has to.

Here is a link to that thread...
