I believe that we can put our foil hats and fears about gestapo states away.  Our various State legislators are striving to find ways to control/disrupt the unlawful activities of a total of just 2,500 - 3,000 OMG members Australia wide, while allowing law abiding citizens and riders to go about their business uneffected.

It's not going to be illegal to ride in larger groups if the law is gazetted. The aim is to  give police the right to stop and question.
to a certain extent it might be a furphy anyway. The UCM the umbrella group for the baddies will have this into the discrimination tribunals quick smart and they'll be claiming to represent all  motorcycle riders
They did it to get previous laws quashed in SA and another state. Big winners in this will be the lawyers. If Campbell the cut lunch commando wants to run it the UCM will be shouting for an appearance in the High Court.

I think the petition, and others like it, are good and necessary.

However, they might have chosen a picture that didn't show riders taking over the road en masse, and riding on the wrong side.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Hey guys remember a man call Joh. He banned people walking in small groups down the street unless you had permission. you had to have permission to do any sort of walk in groups at all even chrches were affected but was rarely enforced. I think the Qld boys of our group will be fine but you will possibly need police permission to hold an event thats all. Perhaps the symbol we wear could be confused as a motorcycle club patch

Impossible.  Firstly it has to be worn on the back.  Secondly it would have to be much larger.
And pre-eminently, it would have to be accompanied by the appropriate rockers and MC designation.

I'm hoping someone will post some pictures of outlaw motorcycle gang members so my colleagues and I will know what to look for!  :grin

Seriously!  :o

Yes 'patches' are worn...but not compulsory...

and this illustrates well what I meant regarding "patched clubs".  There are no rockers and no "MC"

If you're unaware, "rockers" are the titles above and below the patch designating the club name and location, and the "MC" is for motorcycle club, and is at the bottom right of the jacket.

From what I have read the Qld govt is targeting 'outlawed' motorcycle gangs, aren't they?

Unless you're involved in some illegal activity, CHILL.
You will not be arrested for simply riding a motorcycle, even if there are 4 of you riding together.
I think the whole 'law' thing is stupid, but I don't EVER expect to be detained on suspicion of being part of an outlaw motorcycle gang. EVER.
I've been stopped before for a rego & licence check. Didn't bother me in the slightest. They are only doing their job.
If you are stopped for a check, thank them for doing a great job.
Cheers.

The legislation has an appendix that lists the organisations that are defined as criminal motorcycle clubs. Groups such as Blue/ Red/Orange Knights, Southern Cross Association, Ulysses Club etc. are not in that list so they are not being targetted.

However, if the police see something that appears to have a bill, waddles and sounds like it's quacking they will be taking a closer look to see if it is a duck. :law I don't pretend to be a duck and don't fly around with ducks so I'm not that worried.  8)

Winston66,

Wonders,

Is there a recognized definition that can define in some non ambiguous and clear way as to how the authority can discern and clearly decide as to what criteria to use when they are deciding as to what constitutes in their opinion is  an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang , or organization?

Or is it all in the name?

If there is such a proper concept, I for one would be interested to see it and then I could rest assured that the Authority is only concerned in  following well constructed and justifiable concepts as they go about their unenviable jobs.
I personally feel quite relieved in that I am not involved in either side of the equation.

Cheers,
