Yet for my ST1300 they want almost double what Swann gives me. Go figure.

It sure seems random.  Might be at the discretion of the clerk.
Or maybe WA white ST11s get preferential treatment because white STs are so common over there.

I just insured with QBE as a lot cheaper than swan but they flogged me $565 and that's after asking for discount. Might give your guys a call. You got a number or just online?

I am just about to renew my St1300 - Shannons are $455 for $15K agreed value. They are $427 for CTP and on the RMS calculator they were up to 200 bucks cheaper than the usual mobs.

I am about the same as Turtle with insuremyride, except I don't have daily riding.  I also go 2000 extra gear cover and all the extras on the bike, which did not chnage the premium (they did not offer, I had to ask). Mine is insured fro $7400 as it is in such great condition, I I will be washing it this week...

I'm with Youi, I found them to be the cheapest
($33 a month :thumbs or $395.90 for the year :rockon)

I have just switched from QBE to Youi

QBE $54.28 (Per month)
Youi $32.99 (Per month)

Includes $1500 cover for aftermarket parts (they will do up to $4300)
And riding gear (any riding apparel or protective clothing purposely made for motorcycle riding, including helmets, gloves, riding jackets, pants and boots, and any other motorcycle-specific gear, such as body armour and knee guards.)

I found Youi very helpful, obliging and prepared to beat other quotes.  I ended up with $382.00 PA, for the brand new ST1300 and this included $5,000 cover for the Elite camper.

Well here is a quick thanks to members input about their thoughts on different insurance companies.
I have just received my renewal from Swann....not bad at $285 p.a. (but no gear/helmet etc cover)....but I decided to 'shop' around.
Youi have quoted $248 p.a. which includes all the riding gear, plus and extra $1000 cover for other things.
So, all in all looks like a winner for me.
Cheers
Kev

Now we all just sit and wait to see if they pay a claim promptly.      :popcorn

I had a quote from Youi yesterday and it a couple dollars under the $368 quoted by QBE but it would be cheaper if I paid yearly so down to $301. Couldn't do that in one lump sum (out of work) but that didn't deter the sales rep. He put me on hold for a few minutes and came back with $316 a year paid monthly.

Apparently he put on some sob story to his boss about me being out of work etc and couldn't pay the premium in one lump sum so he got the staff discount for me. After all that I thought it best to go ahead with the deal. So, $26 a month from January.

Nearly forgot, the sales rep was a bike rider as well........so maybe that helped.

It's interesting to see all the different quotes insurance companies put out there.
I am also with Insure my ride and they pinged me $425 pa for market value of $9500 plus $1000 gear cover. Saved me just over $200 from the RAC.
That's for my GOLD 1999 ST1100 ABS/CBS/TCS (sounds like a uni degree doesn't it)
But my point is - IT'S GOLD BABY
all you whites, blues, blacks and reds can aspire to be gold but there is only one original, 1999 50th Anniversary. Hehehe.
Regards,
Tom, aka Panman50.

QBE have a promotion on (I think it goes most of the time) that if you can email them the quote you've got (.e.g. the quote page from the Insure My Ride website) they'll beat the price.  Beware of the following; They'll compare the quote but
QBE excess is $500 not $400 and they won't lower it
QBE will always quote including $4k of personal stuff and they will take it out to price match if it's not in the quote you send them (fair enough unless you expect them to leave it in.
There's always uncertainty about how many k's. QBE seem to work on how many k's you will do in a year and may try to fudge you down, i.e. sign you up to 10,000 p.a. to lower the premium whereas limited use in Insure My Ride is based on "less than 4 days per week".  Now my last 3 day ride was just over 5000k if I did that once a week.......

It's annoying having to ring around each time but there's always money to save. e.g. I saved $200 on one of QBE's renewals calling NRMA for my Super Tenere a couple of months ago. But they couldn't get within $200 of the $416 Insure My Ride quoted for 15k on my "new to me" ST today. QBE started at about $560 (with the gear insurance).  Haven't tried Youi. Waiting to see that QBE come back with tomorrow and I'm using their covernote.

Now I'm confused!  :crazy

I'm insured with Shannons and I pay $83.72 per quarter ($334 per annum) for agreed value of $15,500, limited use, Basic Excess $500, Theft Excess $0, so what do I get for the money!!

Riding apparel for rider and pillion passenger
Cover for windscreen
Theft of tools or personal items in the bike
Emergency accomodation following an accident or theft
Choice of repairer
Lifetime guarantee on repairs
Towing and storage following an accident
Accidental damage to a trailer if being towed by the bike
Reimbursement for a hire vehicle for up to 14 days if the motorcycle is stolen
$20 million Legal Liability cover
Cover while participating in Defensive riding course

I'm reasonably happy with what I get for what I pay. :grin

How is it that people are with Shannons and yet when I go to there site and do a quote it comes up as almost $1500 absolutely a ripoff. So far cheapest I can find is youi at $600+ which gives me the same as Shannons so why are they more expensive?
