Riding for the Darkside
« on: January 03, 2014, 02:19:43 PM »
:dred11 STranger, my truSTy STeed, Has taken me on a few Battle rides in FarRiders 100 Days of War. for the un aware FarRiders are just having fun for 100 Days before the National Rally, giving ppl a choice of rides to collect photo's of locations.I will try to get to as many as possible,  juST for the ride, and to further the purse for thier side. I'm a Dark Knight.
This is how its been so far.
21/12/13. the first day of war.
Up early, breaky, quik checklist yep! ready to go. STranger needs a drink, STop at my local.Feulled up  9am  hit the Northern Rd to Richmond then up the Bells Line, to Bilpin, quik photo STop at  the clue GPS spot..

T'was a nice morning and not much traffic, I headed towards Lithgow and turn of at Hartley valley rd and STopped in to see a mate. Back on the Rd across the Gt Western Hwy and then the road to Jenolan caves. I hadnt ridden thru here for about 20 yrs and seeing as I was solo had a bit of fun,, hehehe,,, thru the big cave & another war trophy pic & on to Edith and another pic, (not the right one though so, I realised later). 100 Day trophy's done , now which way home?  I headed to Oberon  and had a pie then head towards Goulburn, another road I hadnt been on for many a yr.  :law a little bit of battle between 'STranger'  & myself along these rds,, he wanted free reignes to show off his ability, a further challenge to see if my skills could match. Turn left at Goulburn and headed back home. 6711ks, after a lil exploring off route.  http://goo.gl/maps/P7nIy
Boxing Day 26/12/13 2nd Day of Battle. http://goo.gl/maps/0Mg14
My best n dearest friend was down in Canberra for Xmas with her family, I couldn't miss a chance to see her so I got my Battle locations and her dads address and planned my route, first STop at this place for my next Trophy for the Dark Knights,,

then to an oberservatory for another trophy part 1pic  then down to Tharwa and where I needed to take a pic was CLOSED   "DANG". I'll have to re visit this place, also.. Farkkk  oh well another ride.. then headed back to Belconnan to see Sally..  a little 2up to spend us time, and a few  hrs later headed of towards home into a blackenning sky. Fuel STop at Goulburn again and into rain. Bloody great tyres these Road Pilot 3's stick like...sh*# to a .....  you know what I mean. 534 k ride once again STranger  :dred11 took in his STride..
28/12/2013. http://goo.gl/maps/EZeVH
St George  Gregory  had been housebound and was in need of a ride... we spoke the nite B4 and I suggested a round trip to Jenolan Caves again so I could RETAKE a Trophy pic for the Darkside.  425 k's for me that day .. read ST George's ride report  but I'll add a few lil' bits also.. 2 skippys decided to hop along beside us,, all good, Gregory later commented how Dark they were,,, they were on my side,, watch out White Knights,,  the day was casual for me , I enjoyed it though, I led Gregory on a ride that was mildly challenging for him and he survived with more confidence in his and his STeeds capabilities.. he wasnt keen on my choice to ride without gloves,  it was  hot, but he seemed to enjoy it ,, read his vibration gloves post.  He's  got a gr8 camera and an eye for a frame or two and we stopped at a few places he'd seen on our way out. we had lunch at Oberon, on to Edith for the right pic for my FartRiders pic as Gregory ST George called us. The road ahead is good riding rd but Gregory had a challenging ride down to the caves,, he later  called me a :cuss for making him ride thru there..   :thumb  extra experience points Greg,, t'was easy, well done. we rode the same way home STopping at the oll truck for a pic., thnx Greg, an impromptu ride ,, good day out..
1 Jan 2014 New Years Day ride. 3rd Day of battle for the Dark.http://goo.gl/maps/efLe1
Eager to gain another Darkside victory I headed out at 5.30 am. Putty Rd Singleton,, then across to Dungog.. wow very nice country thru there,, a bit rough in patches, but hey its juST a road...I needed to take a pic of a pub,,, the assiST manager didnt seem to know about 100 days of war, so I told him, he had no hints on the Knights cards that mayB hidden there, time wise I was firST to the gps, but wasnt 1ST to poST it, but it was another Black Knight that poSTed 1ST, np's STill Victory to the Darkside, on to GlouceSTer and another gps loc and pic , I STtopped for a egg n baon burger at Barrington STore and coffee,, not blaming the burger but I couldnt eat it,, I ate the egg and a little bacon and some off the fat soaked bun,, then in the bin it went. I sat for a while and was feeling sick so I decided I'd turn around and cancel out the planned trip to Walcha then Port MacQuarie. travelling back the way I'd come  ended up in under 12.5 hrs 786k's STranger once again showed his STrenght , typical of the ST. Once again a plan needs a revisit to gather trohpy's left this time.
Nambacca will accomplish the tasks needed for the purse of the Dark, in the meantime I have to revisit the southern end of the ACT and get the correct photo that was locked away on my Boxing Day ride into War for the Dark..
With many battles ahead we will ride father and farther away.To date STranger has carried me 2416 k's, I'll rest him up and new plugs, overall check up and ready him for the FarRides that await us.
 seeya on a highway somewhere.

Good report Johnny. U FartRiders r not just a load of hot air, your adventures have the smell of real adventure and the lingering whiff of many hot, sweaty challenges. Who nose how much fun u guys have!

 :butt :Whipped

Speaking of STranger your trusty and willing STeed, he certainly is in sync with his rider as I recall with gr8 clarity our little drag race at the Narellan lights at Campbelltown last week, (just b4 we made our separate ways home). A little glint in the eye and a glide alongside at the front of the traffic and it was pretty much flat-out to 80kph and I was unable to overtake in the 3 seconds it took 2 get 2 80kph. Not even my practiced technique of clutchless up-gear changes could reel u back. No wheel spin but good energising fun. Wyvern will burn STranger next time such an opportunity arises (maybe).

:beer Cheers :beer Gregory

Tch tch!!  Drag races off lights!!   :eek

What next?  You're supposed to be mature and sensible, and besides you'll get STs a bad name and we'll all be legislated against like the OMCs!

Fun, though, isn't it.      :crackup

ST George,do you think I got lucky with the light change or something,,  :nahnah skill m8 ,,, after following me for the day I'm sure you were witness to the way STranger & I are linked from the hip. correct me but I think I have gr8 balance on him and know my extremes, I bet your view of me throwing  STranger into  curves then tucking in to lift him up & onto the next twiST..  Greg if you ever get a go pro I'd have fun leading you just to see the footage.
:dred11 I shall whisper quietly to STranger  that there is a Challenge to meet. You havent seen just how big my balls are,, figatorily speaking (if thats a word) :rofl. Wyvern may be the Mightier STeed  :candystwheelie mayB juST a little above your confidence and skill, IMHO whereas the bonding I have with STranger  :dred11 the smaller STallion, along with 1.BIG BALLS,  :crackup 2. confidence 3 skill & experience  :nahnah will accept, keeping safety of both self & STeed and tintop, :cop also  o:)

Canberra mayB one day midweek nxt week, we could plan a route down to Tharwa  for a pic and ride a different route home,I need to REVISIT a gps to gather whats needed and hopefully ride victoriuos in the Battle between White and Black. Gregory come join in the rides & ride for the Darkside. You will journey. with Wyvern steadfast between your thighs and you will gain confidence and skills and then you'll be at one, allowing Wyvern to run  with you in control of his riegns. :thumbs

I m interested in going to Canberra in the near future as I have not yet seen the Australian Mint or The War Memorial and if memory serves me correctly a good exhibition is at the National Art Gallery and where the bloody hell is "Tharwa"? (Google it, Gregory). I'll message u when I work out dates that might suit u as well.

The other day I looked at Wyvern's odometer and the original ad from Desty and found that I have covered just over 10,000 kms since October 2012. I'm pretty happy with those sorts of kms as I'm very busy rebuilding our house and most of my super money is going into it after buying Wyvern. There's an asbestos roof 2 get rid of, a garage and courtyard 2 build and various verandahs and walkways 2 go yet. So I'm not going 2 b a prolific rider in the class of yourself, Saaz or Biggles 4 example. My musculature is "cramp central" anyway. So my riding ambitions this year r 2 go on occasional interesting rides with good people and finally get 2 an AGM at Ballarat 2 meet more of the many happy riding characters that comprise OzSTOC.
 :hatwave
Wyvern is happy with that 2 coz he also has a new pair of those amazing PR3s and he doesn't want 2 wear them out 2 quickly.

They've got "reckless driving" up their sleeve if they want to trim your feathers...      :law

I suspect a Magistrate would fail to see the necessity of 0 to 60 in 2 seconds.      :p

Hail Tj189!  :clap

And what about WAG (West Aussie Glen) who rode 7 days to last year's AGM and then up to NSW, Qld, NT and back to Perth again, (his right foot in the water tour).  :thumbsup

Who else has done a lap or most of it?
