Hello from the United States
« on: January 07, 2014, 01:39:55 AM »
I am joining your forum primarily because I am coming to Australia and would like to attend a rally in order to meet some ST owners in your country. I have a 2003 ST1300 and a Kawasaki Versys that I tour North America on. I am single and retired (63 years old) and like to tour outside North America when the opportunity arises. I have been "swapping" my ST1300 in order to tour overseas. Last year an Australian mate (from Greensbough) came to America and toured on my ST from my home in West Virginia to California. In February I am coming to Melbourne and picking up his bike to complete the swap. I will tour on his bike (2007 Suzuki Bandit) for two months around southeastern Australia. I am really looking forward to this trip since I've never been to Australia. I have my swapmate and another friend who lives in Moama and they plan to tour part of my stay with me. If my schedule permits I hope to attend OZSTOC in Ballarat, Victoria on March 21.
Cheers and Ride Safe
Joe (Olegeezer)

Hi Joe.  Beautiful looking ST13.  Nice camping ground, too.

Good thing you found that old bloke to hold the bike up while you got the photo.

See you at Ballarat.

For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Yes, he's my twin brother, I have a full head of hair and a better body, but he's not jealous except for the fact that I have an ST and he can't keep his Harley running.
Thanks for all the welcome(s) and hope to see/meet you all at OZSTOC !! I may have the fellows from Greensborough and Moama with me and we could share a room maybe?
Cheers

Yes, I've since talked to Andy and a meeting is to be arranged.  Andy mentioned he and another friend may attend the AGM at Ballarat in March.  That will boost the numbers.

Andy may be eligible for OzSTOC membership as he has ridden more km on an ST than me.  He tells me he clocked up 9,000 mile on yours, that's around 14,000km - more than the 6,000km have ridden on my ST.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

G'day Joe,

Welcome to OZ. You will have a ball. Compared to the States it is pretty much the same but different. If you make it to the Hunter Valley (North of Sydney) look me up and we'll go for a ride!
Take care,
Todd

If i make it up that far north I would like to go for a ride with you. My schedule is fairly open at this point. Just prior to OZSTOC I have a ticket to Tassie and I'm sure my swapmate buddies that visited me in America have some riding planned. It would be a shame not to make it up as far as Sydney but it would provide an excuse to return.
Cheers

At this risk of igniting the Sydney Melbourne thing Sydney is a very beautiful city and it is well worth the trip. I am actually a couple of hours north of Sydney.
Any way if you make it this far the offer is there.
Take care.
Todd

Greetings olegeezer from another"olegeezer". Look forward to meeting you at Ballarat if you can make it. I see you hail from Beckley. My wife, son and I stayed there with some friends a number of years ago during a round USA trip (four wheels unfortunately). Hope you enjoy your Australian tour. My wife and I just completed a full lap of Oz our ST and we can thoroughly recommend it.
Cheers

Well I am enjoying my tour of Australia   :thumbs. My host has taken me to the Great Ocean Road and the Snowy Mountains. We had a one night stay in Ballarat and I look forward to seeing a group of ST owners in March there.
I am headed north and found the Putty road to be a good one as I rode from Boorowa to Singleton.
I will need to fit new tyres on the Suzuki Bandit and if anyone has a recommended shop to purchase and install in the Brisbane area, please let me know.
Cheers
Joe
