Well, first one after Alf Garnett.  I recall Alf Garnett being really too crass, even for me a teenager the time.

I think your memory is pretty good.  I can't say that I was a fan of the show, but there were some pretty good one-liners and facial expressions from the long suffering wife Edith (played by Jean Stapleton), and then of course there was Sally Struthers.

That might have had something to do with it.

Big Bang is passable but I rarely get to see it.........the other are just wasted air time but "Everybody Loves Raymond" would be better

But for US comedy shows nothing compares to MASH.

Mash wasnt really a comedy as such in my mind, but more of a humorus look at war. The laugh track was to soften the harsh reality, and more often than not was used in non funny spots.

Who can remember or forget Norman Gunston's interview with Sally Struthers. He had her in fits laughing, but the funnier thing was, she really got Norman and his brand of humour.
