S**t it was cold.
« on: June 27, 2014, 05:58:39 PM »
Been busting my arse to get out for a ride over the last couple of weeks but something else always got in the way, it's been the extreme winds over the last few days that have stopped me. No wind this morning, yippee, so I got in a 400+ ride from Nowra down the Coast to Cobargo and back, but by golly it was cool. The temp sat at arouind 11 degrees most of the day, got down as low as 7 in some parts of the ride. And that's not factoring in the wind chill factor. Brrrrrr!!!!!

Could I be getting old?????

Never mind, it was good to be on the bike again and enjoying myself. And just for a change, guess what, the winds are due back tomorrow and for the following few days.

It is cold and uninviting here as well. The ride back on Tuesday through rain and wind along with sub 7c temperatures cured me of riding for a few days at least.

You don't get old, just smarter and more realistic  :OldMan

It was 6 °C here in Brisvegas on the way to work this morning.  :eek  I think some of the southerners who were up this way must have dropped some icicles before they went home.  :o
Cheers,

I'm not sure how cold it was in Canberra this morning because I don't go to work; so I stayed toasty warm in bed.

hahahahaha,
you guys make me laugh, 11 degrees and its cold haha
when I was a lad in bonnie Scotland, I was buying a bike from a shop in edinburgh, so me and a mate drove two up through snow and hail, must have been about -4 on way through, what should have take an hr and a bit, took us two and a half hrs, and that was just there, on way back it was even colder, so much so because my feet were on the ground most of the way to stabilise us on the motorway ,  because by this time it had turned into a blizzard, we had to stop at a servo for an hr to defrost, then continue. again what should have been just over an hr took us about 4 hrs, I have never experienced anything like it since, but the first rally we did every year was an hr away from home and the tents got put up in snow covered fields.
yeah, im sorry, but 11 degrees aint cold lol

Our temps ranged from a low of 5c to 8c yesterday plus 10mm of rain overnight but we did have a low of -1c in the first week of the month. Our wood heater is working overtime at the moment and unless it's raining I still use the bike for the daily trip to the supermarket.

Similar here, except we are dipping down to -1 and -2 this week.  Yesterday it started out sunny and not too bad, but the temperature fell for the rest of the day.

That's just plain ridiculous!  Not to mention dangerous.     :o

Betcha wouldn't do that now- definitely a "lad" thing.   :eek
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Bit cold on the bike yesterday, got as low as 1C, didn't get over 10C for 600km.

Even had to use the heated grips.
