Hi
« on: July 02, 2014, 05:28:26 PM »
Hi i am new to this site but have been involve with bike for many years.  I do not have a ST but hopefully will be on the look out for a late model black 1300 in the near future when my current bike sells.  I have currently a 2010 Goldwing which we have done nearly 30,00km in the last 2 years, but the better half has aback and hip that is not to flash and is afraid of being away somewhere and not being able to either get of the bike or get back on it due to these problems.  She has had some nasty jolts through the seat when hitting ridges in the road couse by tree roots when the wing was full loaded and bottoming the suspension.  Once launching her out of the sear so she was positive she was cominh down where the bike wasn't. So I always like the ST1300 and it was a toss up between the this and the FJR1300 a few years ago and I had a FJR for 11 years and 215,000kms, so now I think I will try the ST.

Loce the forum and the info and hopefully will end up with a black 1300 :blk13

Thanks guys for the warm welcome.  The missus seems keen for day rides and maybe a weekend here and there, but not like the 2 -3 week trips we did on the Wing. 3 weeks in Tassie in April just gone - magnificent

ST2UP sorry the Wing is red.

I rode a ST1300 last weekend for the first time  and it was very nice bike to ride.  I am not sure if the front tyre was shagged as it was heavy to put into corners and didn't insire confidence in the front end.  The tyre looked ahalf worn but not bad, so I stopped in a servo as I thought it must be half flat and it had 30psi in it so I bumped that to 38 and it felt a bit better.  I think I will have to try another one with a decent front tyre! Apart from that very happy with it.

Davo, most of us run 42 psi in the tyres so 30 is very low and is definitely going to stuff the tyre and make control difficult :eek
