Where's the Voztec?
« on: September 26, 2014, 07:30:20 AM »
If I had one of these Voztec helmets:

... then I'd still be able to ride. Unfortunately I don't, it's just too damn painful pulling my Shoei down over the stitches:

That's the result of the excision of a squamous cell carcinoma. I guess I'm paying the price of too much sun in my youth... & that price includes not being able to ride for a week.

Take it easy Ted and recover soon. Most importantly, all the best for your future health wise, you still have many more riding years ahead of you.

Recover quickly Ted, and take comfort from the fact that it was found, is gone, and the outcomes for SCC treatment seem to be pretty good.

Hope the healing is quick.

Great question though Big Ted,
Has anyone tried a Voztec?
I have never seen them available anywhere.

Hah, a mere flesh wound. A real man would pull on the helmet any way and go ride...

Get better soon. P.S. if it leaves a scar, you can say you got it in a crash that wore a hole through the helmet.. o:) o:)

Only a week you lucky bastard, I just had a radical prostate removal (prostate cancer) and can't ride the ST for three (read it) 3 months. I go out to shed each day and sit on the STeed and count the days :H

One of those silk inner cap things might ease to pain of putting the helmet on once the healing has progressed a bit.

As for Rocky, three months off the bike at this time of year is criminal!

Many thanks for the kind wishes. The irony is that I had the work done on "talk like a pirate day", but I had a dressing on so I couldn't exploit it. I had a constant headache due to the fact that I had very tight skin over my forehead for the week, but the stitches were removed on Friday arvo, with almost instant relief.

So, I manned-up and tried the helmet on Saturday. It hurt like hell still, but it did go on:

I was hoping to go for a ride this arvo, but have to play taxi with the kids again instead, but I should be right for work tomorrow.

Rocky, I've been going through DTs over this last week, so I feel for your 3m layoff. Get well soon!

Wouldn't have been funny if you had pulled the wound apart pulling the helmet over your nut.   :eek

Back to scratch, only worse.    :'(
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
