Being tax time yet again, things have changed yet again for doing online tax returns. I would prefer negotiating an international tax agreement than do a personal tax return! Having dealt with the AO for work is one thing, but I am in the same situation as anyone else when dealing with them personally

No wonder people get confused and angry sometimes, and give up and go to a tax agent.
This year is a bit more complicated as I have to do a final return for Gina, which means a few (more!!) forms to go to various bodies and the ATO. I sat down and got all the information together, as I have been putting this off for quite a while - I even washed and polished the bike and car the other day rather than do this

with pictures to prove it. The ATO website gave most information, but bits were not clear, or referred to last year's tax return. The MyTax website does not cover a deceased person final tax return as part of the qualifying criteria, so I had to try and talk TO A REAL PERSON

This means registering with a voice print before being allowed to ask some questions. The person was helpful (in fact sounded rather ok

) and we worked through the requirements - a paper tax return is need for Gina's bit as you have to print on it, as MyTax does not seem to have considered this variation of putting in a final tax return.
So now I have to wait for the paper return to turn up - they are not kept by many outlets anymore so you have to order online

So the paperwork gets put away and I have more time to put it off until next week.
