Good video. I passed on to my sister who has troubles cornering. Would probably explain a lot and hope it helps her feel more relaxed.

I think this also happens when following another bike (or car).  Because I am watching them, I am missing what else is going on.  I was once on my bike following a mate in his car at night.  When we got to our destination he asked me what I thought of all the roos near the road.  I did not see them as I was looking at his tail light.  It was a wake up call for me.
Does this have any implications for group rides?

It can have an impct on group rides. If you keep your eyes on the cute bum on the bike in front of you, there is a real risk you could crash into it if the brakes go on suddenly.

There have been problems expressed by some who have had a bit of an off, that they keep looking for safe escape routes and dont seem to ride as smoothly as they used to. Once they are reminded that they should be looking where they want to go and not where they dont want to be, then their riding improves again.

As with all traffic, I make it a habit on group rides to keep looking several vehicles ahead.  That way I can "read the future" regarding brake lights, bends etc.

There's a classic vid of a couple of bikes on the Dragon's Tail in US where two bikes go off the edge and down a hillside because the second guy just followed the first.    :crazy
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott
