Title: Photobucket - 3rd Party Hosting **Changes**
Post by: ST2UP on July 07, 2017, 11:26:08 AM
By now many of you have experienced the frustration of the new changes made by Photobucket.

About 75% of their users are non paying members of the service provided and they relied heavily on advertising to cover their business costs. They state that this is no longer sustainable and are now charging for 3rd Party hosting of photo's.

In laymen's terms....If you use photobucket to store your photos and wish to then attach them to a forum post this will no longer be possible unless you elect to pay for their premium service that allows 3rd Party hosting at $399 US per annum.

Not every one has been effected by the change just yet....but its coming  :wink1

Other free (or minimal cost) hosting services exist that allow 3rd party posting at the moment....Flicker, 500PX, IMGBB are a few options.

We don't encourage posting the attachment of your picture directly to your post (but accept it happens  :wink1) as we only have limited band space in our website to accommodate these attached pictures.....the more attached pics the slower the website/forum etc.

So could I PLEASE encourage you to view your posts you have made with pictures shared via your Photobucket account to see if they have been effected and make the required changes to your post so your pics can be viewed and keep your posts complete.

Just to confirm to the few who have contacted us, this issue is a result of photobuckets 3rd Party hosting rules and not an OzSToc Forum malfunction.

Or you can think outside of the box and host your photos on a dummy facebook account.

I'm not on facebook either and going to sign up at any time soon  :CB--
I am not going to pay $399.99/year but would pay a reasonable amount
I would be prepared to throw in a few $$$ if OzSTOC could organise a deal
Just saying :think1

Hi everyone I have a free alternative that I have setup for everyone to use. Easy FB or Google signup (or email)

Please take a look at it over at - www.imghostr.net (http://www.imghostr.net)

It is unlimited storage, just limited to 2MB per photo.

Cheers

Instead of Photobucket I now use Flickr https://www.flickr.com/about (https://www.flickr.com/about) for most pictures.

For our future ride reports (includes related RTEs) I'll use my blog site http://st1100a.blogspot.com (http://st1100a.blogspot.com) and then just post a link to it.

Hey Diesel, when Photobucket first demanded hosting payment for use of their service, I switched to free imgbb.com, and then basically suggested the last two digits of your bike rego to Photobucket.

Thanks Kev and Gadget. The above pic was a test from Imghostr which seems to be working as well.

I will eventually wad through my posts and update pics that copped the watermark from photobucket - but this will take a while.

Cheers, Diesel
