Title: Pete's Jetty Fishing Trolly
Post by: StinkyPete on January 03, 2018, 04:51:34 PM
I've been a bit off color and restricted over the last six weeks (and for a few more to come) so I've been back into the shed with another project.    This time it's a Jetty Fishing Trolly to cart my gear when I go  fishing, as I got sick of wrangling tackle box, bait, burley bucket, fish bucket, bait and rods etc.

Those who are observant will notice that the wheels are from the Billy Cart, which now has some indestructible solid rubber wheels with steel hub that are grandson proof.  I wanted a Jetty Trolly design that would fold up nicely to fit in the car, have a bit of work bench space, two rod holders, a fish/ice bucket, and somewhere to carry the tackle box.   A light can be fixed to the top of the handle if needed.   When packed, the handle telescopes down, the bottom shelf folds up and the top pulls off.   Most of the material is galv, with the bits that are not galvanized  painted with Cold Galv spray as an undercoat.  Now I need to go fishing to try it out and see if it can carry a bucket full of fish and squid.

As an aside, I was chatting with a Japanese lady at the hospital today.   She prepares fresh squid as sushimi.   She slices it raw and very thin, dips it in soy or vinegar or both, and down the hatch.  I'll be trying that for sure , but she added only to do it with fresh caught squid and not the stuff you get from the fish shop.

Very practical item indeed- custom-made, you might say.

If all that welding is yours I'm very jealous!

As for sushimi, you're very welcome, although Bodø will be along shortly to warmly agree with you.

Thanks and yes,  it's all my own design & welding and was done with a MIG.   I've had plenty of time on my hands to get it right, so it took me a coupe of weeks and I would put a bit together, ponder over the function and design and then do a little bit more.  I'm pretty happy with the final result.

A man of your skills could whip up a quick tow bar so you could take it behind the ST.    A quick ride down the hill for sushi.   2 birds with one stone.  :think1

You are a very clever young fella making that little thingy.  All it needs is a solar panel, a non smelly Engel and non-unpluggable plug.

Nice build, I was going to ask if Mig,Tig or stick but you have already answered.

I recently bought a Tig / Stick (lincoln 200amp) machine, already have a Mig, threw out the CIG stick as it was crap.

I* will now need to build something to take pics of and post about   o:)

Is there a split pin on that left axle?  If not, the left wheel will come off half way to the jetty.    :grin

Although it looks like a nylock nut, so maybe you thought of that, too.    |-i

12mm galv bolts as axels, with the wheels held on with nylocks and a drop of locktite.   :thumbs
I did think of castle nuts and split pins, but had some 12mm nylocks in my nut and washer drawer.
