Hi everyone!
I'm picking up a very dusty fixer-upper '98 ST1100 ABS for next to nothing off of my boss.
Going to need a bit of work to get it running reliably as it has been sat in a shed and hasn't been started in 18 months or so.
I've so far compiled a list of jobs to get it going. I've been lurking the Facebook groups and have a bit of an idea on what I'll need to do.
Please let me know if there is anything else to consider! I've ordered a new timing belt already (original belt with 130k kilometres on it) so any information about how best to replace that would be great!
◦ Oil and filter change
◦ Air filter replacement
◦ Spark plug replace
◦ Replace battery
◦ Coolant change and line inspection
◦ Inspect and clean brakes front and rear including brake lines and master cylinder
◦ Clutch line flush (consider rebuilding master & slave cylinders)
◦ Brake bleed
◦ Carb remove and clean
◦ Check elbows and O rings under carby
◦ Check valve clearances
◦ Timing belt change
◦ Take off rear wheel and inspect final drive and grease
◦ Inspect steering head bearing
◦ Inspect fork seals
◦ Inspect fuel lines
◦ Replace fuel filter
◦ Inspect wheel bearings
◦ Inspect swing arm bearings
◦ Replace tyres

Enjoy the forum plenty of advice here

Swing arm bearings will be difficult to inspect, as it involves removing the swing arm (Special tool needed for that). Probably just need to see if there is any side play. I have never heard of a problem with those bearings.
Check the plugs ( can be a fiddly job as not easy to get at all of them) they dont need replacing often. (mine are at least 165000 Ks old)

Howdy CravenHaven,
Looks like we will have a Pan Clan Going up there. I have just bought a block in Coomba Park and when I finally finish building my house.
my ST1300 and CB1100 will take up residence there.
Am a liitle but sus about the number of deer running around up there I have to say. Have you found them a problem?
Cheers Todd
