Title: SA Covid Lockdown
Post by: StinkyPete on November 18, 2020, 02:12:46 PM
Well, we begin a hard lockdown as of midnight tonight.   No travel at all, other than essential shopping, essential medical etc, and those are the only reasons we can leave our homes, not even for exercise.   Masks are now required when out of the home, and only one person can go out at any time.    This is for the next six days, but I won;t be surprised if it goes on for longer.

This recent spread of this damn disease shows just how vulnerable we are, and I pray that we will have the patience and determination to follow directions to get through this phase.

Work will be interesting tomorrow.  As yet I have not been advised not to come in.

It just shows its never over. Looks like they might have a good handle on it as the numbers are not climbing quickly.
Lets hope that the lockdown is obeyed and works to contain the virus in the known areas and groups, and life can return to ‘normal’ very soon.

People need to respect this outbreak in SA, as it is a different strain of Covid-19, and they are unsure how this strain may get around, and how it will affect the way it behaves once in the body

Passenger-less public transport must be nirvana just like last time :runyay

Peak hour express for zero passengers.  No traffic.  It was bliss.  Lunch was tricky with few options.

I heard something along those lines on the news last night.  From what I saw today most people are doing the right thing.

I can vouch for that, I used to warm a pie (wrapped in foil) on the engine block of our work truck back in the day when I actually worked...  :thumbs

If I ever posted something during the Vic lockdown to make our eastern friends envious - I humbly apologise, please don't be as insensitive.

It's one down, five to go at this stage. Today I moved the remaining 300kg of pavers (of 1.3 tonnes) UPHILL for the commencement of our repaving project, mulched a heap of garden stuff and cleaned and polished the ST and V-Strom. Tomorrow I think I can justify riding to a supermarket to purchase toothbrushes to clean and polish hard to reach bits in the mouth and on the bike, whilst purchasing essential life sustaining foods etc.

Stay safe everyone.

Careless and insensitive comments can be expected of gents approaching 70yo.

Today I moved the remaining 300kg of pavers ...

Just like manoeuvring the ST1300 in the garage.  Which is something I will do tomorrow, before I go on a ride through the Yarra Ranges.

Yes, STAY SAFE, be patient, the lock down will be over before you know.

Had the biked booked in yesterday with SA Motorcycles to change the rear tyre,  they rang me wednesday night before lockdown to cancel.  I got a call yesterday afternoon to bring the bike in as they had an exemption for mechanical repairs.  I checked the SAPOL website and confirmed.  Pretty easy run with no traffic,  just sat in a waiting room with a mask on while they did it and then came straight home.

I drove past Coast Powersports yesterday and they were closed so that is a surprise.

Well, there we go, you wouldn't read about it. One silly fib can lock down an entire State. Given we can now exercise away from home, I guess that means we can go on a mental health ride as per the last lock down. I think I'll wait until Sunday, all the same.

Let's hope they get more than a slap on the wrist.

They're getting nothing not even a fine.

Let's hope they get more than a slap on the wrist.

I'm still grateful the government moved swiftly rather than procrastinate and let it potentially get out of hand.

It's the way of the world now Bodo. The rationale being, if there is a big stick involved apparently people will be less inclined to cooperate. Ipso facto, if there is no penalty for lying people will always tell the truth - that works, doesn't it??? :fp

Generally, but work was quite pleasant.  Few people, little traffic was a nice change.  The downside was where I usually get my lunch was closed.  I got a pie from OTR on thursday, walked out wondering how this different from takeaway but they too were told to stop that.  That made lunch today a challenge.
