Title: Road trip to the west coast

G’Day STowners, I’m sure a lot of you haven’t seen much from me lately so I thought I’d let you all know I’m still alive and kicking.
I am off on a new adventure in a weeks time in the KimbUs Mercedes Sprinter motorhome this time being able to tow the trailer, the hive, with BEEstY 🐝 Can Am 🕷 inside. Last year’s Covid trip during lockdown in Qld didn’t have my bike so was difficult to stop and smell the roses as they say but this trip I will be taking time viewing local spot, of beauty in nature. Game parks are not my thing.
I am driving up through western Qld to be in Darwin for Wendy’s daughter Danae 21st birthday then after a week or 2 in the NT I’ll head west to places I’ve never been. Darwin to Perth. I’ll hopefully take 6 weeks to get to Perth where I’ll continue south around the coast to fill in the gaps from Mandurah to Ravensthorpe.  On my way to the National Rally in Perth I’ll headed north from Ravensthorpe so I didn’t see Albany or Margaret River.
I’ll then slowly make my way from Norseman then back east, stopping along the G Aust Bight often just
l👀king out to sea and admiring the sandstone cliffs. I don’t think I’ll go swimming though, maybe a little dip knee deep to keep my boys dry and hand hanging. I’ll stop in Kimba SA then head back towards the oceans visiting places like Coffin Bay, Port Lincoln, P A down through the Adelaide Hills onto Mt Gambia and be that damn tourist on the Great Ocean Rd that actuallystops on the pullout bays to let any traffic past. I may venture north then avoiding Melbourne CBD and head inland back home.
I plan on 8 to 12 weeks on the road so if I’m going near your place of abode and would like to see me let me know.  I will have SWconnect and Bubbler spot running and I’ll post up a link on the forum and here.
Here’s a photo of the rig I’m driving so look out for me on the road.
Sorry Brisbane I won’t be going through this time.

Safe travels Johnny.  I probably don't need to say keep your eyes on the Forum, but keep an eye on the calendar and if the stars align, we might see you at one of these VIC RTE's:

   *  August - Smeaton
   *  September - Gellibrand

Sounds like you will miss the SA RTE in October - Naracoorte.

That’s a mighty looking rig Johnny. I’m interested to know the fuel consumption.

Have a great trip. Keep safe and I hope you see some great sights along the way.

My phone doesn’t like the site tonight here about 80ks south of Bourke on the Mitchell Highway. I drove from Windsor Downs to Lithgow via Bells Line of Road then out through Mudgee and Dubbo. The roads are bumpy and the long straights are here.  I have to remember to check fuel.
I’ll keep posting this trip here and hopefully the photos will load. I have the diesel heater blowing hot air warming up my room.
Edit it worked. Yearh. 🚐🐝🕷🏍👀🇦🇺😎

Hi STowners. An update on my trip so far. Last night I stayed just north of Longreach at a freecamp and after cooking steak on the campfire and a little relaxing I slept well. I was up before the sun and ready to leave after a bowl of cereal hit the road to Cloncurry.
I’m here with Brooke and Wendy for a roast dinner and catchup.
Tomorrow I ll see about brake shoes for the Merc Sprinter and maybe 4 new tyres while in Mt Isa before heading further west into the NT and trying to get between Barkly Homestead and Three-ways before dark. Then 2 more days til I’ll arrive in Darwin.
More to come

No further news of travel yet Johnny? Must be in Darwin by now? Keep us informed, mate.
(I haven't even been further than the mailbox for a week, with this damn lockdown, even tho nearest active zone is 300km away)

It's after midnight so now you can wander as far as you like within the State as long as you don't enter Melbourne, Kev... :thumb

Well slack as I may be with remembering to do a daily rundown of my trip. Sorry to you my avid followers
Well I’m arrived on Wednesday arvo and went straight to Berrimah Brake and Clutch to book the KimbUs in for new brakes and rotors after the brake wear warning ⚠️ light came on the dash way back before I arrived at Wendy’s and Brookester’s. The first booking I could get is Tuesday so I added a night to my booking. I set up camp and got BEEstY out from his dusty hive.
Yesterday I went to the car wash and gave BEEstY a high pressure wash with lots of bubbles to blast of the outback Qld desert I moved to the NT. I also did a little shop to ride me over a few days.  Something I need to do before I leave next week is make sure I stock up with enough food for a week or so. That way I ensure I have food so freecamping my way across to the west to the next major town and restock facilities.
Where I’m staying is under the flight path for the RAAF and there has been a constant fly over my fighter jets.  :chocolate-box-smiley-emoticon

All I can say is that the RAAF must know of your importance and are keeping you safe , not many people can say they have the RAAF watching their back .
All the best Johnny

From Johnny regarding his current connection issues :

Hi everybody I’ve been having laptop hassles so I have posted a link to my Facebook page so people can see my trip photos and posts as I cant seem to post on the forum atm.

Lockdown are a hassle for people travelling and WA immediately cancelled my G2GWA border entry permit so at the moment and into the foreseeable future I’ll be staying in SA and playing tourist in places I’ve only traversed on motorcycles.
