They look the goods and Im seriously considering purchasing some for my trip arouns Australia at the end of the year
If anyone has any helpful info, I'd be happy to hear it

I suppose if your riding solo then it would be ok but it would be hard to access side case locks etc if rack was packed.

Putting gear above the panniers has the potential to obstruct your view in the mirrors. If you have higher (extra) mirrors, as I know some ST11 owners have, then not so much of a problem.

Good point. I had thought of just putting some convex stick on mirrors on the existing mirrors to stop the issue. Mind you, I head check more than rely on my mirrors.
Im getting fairly excited about the whole trip, though doing the NT and WA in the December heat will probably temper the enthusiasm a bit. Hopefully it doesn't flood!

Looks like a good system, not much more than just buying the Givi plate itself.

If you are worried about rearward vision, PM Tony as he has posted somewhere on the Ozstoc about his extra mirrors that go on your screen, they look good.

Just be aware that it's cyclone season as well for the northern half of WA and NT.

Im going to take a harder look at last years weather patterns for the whole trip etc closer to the time, but the first part of the trip from Townsville to Perth is a bit of a cannonball run. Should be done in about 10 days or so. The odds of running into poor weather or a weather event in such a small window are pretty low - but at the same time I realise Murphy might be running the weather channel that day :crackup

That's not a bad looking rack for the money. The attached photo shows how I packed for my "lap". The roll across the back seat is an Anydy Strapz Gear Sacz and contains my self inflate mattress and sleeping bag. It did restrict my rear vision a bit, but nothing to get excited about. Right pannier holds a two man tent and footware. Left pannier holds clothes, toiletries, first aid, waterproof overgear. Top box has food and a cask of red, cooking gear, water, maps and other assorted junk.
Worked beautifully for me!
My "Grey Nomad" spies say that around April is the best time to head north.

Didnt see this post,ive just posted a similar post about the same rack, looks the business, it would be nice to see if a similar one could be made over here and maybe save a little on postage etc.
Also thought that maybe could have small arm rests added for the co-pilot. the possibilities are endless.
I was looking for engine crash bars for my ST1100 and found a nice design which the U.S. police used on their ST11's but has been discontinued now, this was made by www.mcenterprisesusa.com (http://www.mcenterprisesusa.com). Saw Bazza's ones but prefer the police ones in chrome.
God I love my ST.

Well I ordered one. The falling oz dollar made is a bit more expensive as they take USD. Landed here at about $314 or so, which I thought was expensive, but at the same time I have no welding skills and a lot of the Townsville businesses dont like to do small jobs.
Its in transit, so pics and review when it finally gets here. From the Urkraine :o

you are hitting NT during the wet season, pretty good chance of road closures.

The wet/road closures Im pretty OK about. I have a feeling I'll either time it just right to get every road closure and monsoon flooding, or I'll be out of there before things get too soggy. BOM has average rainfall picking up in Dec/January, but I'm going through in late November, so it shouldn't be TOO bad.

Road closures are definitely not the norm in November/December. We normally have "build up" conditions through those months. High temps, ridiculous humidity without the relief of storms. If you don't already use one, I strongly recommend a camelbak or similar. That time of year I use mine for diluted sports drinks, at a rate of approx 1 litre consumed per 100km travelled.
Are you planning to come to Darwin or just head west from Katherine?

Hi Wendy, yeah Im going to touch base with some mates in Darwin for a day, and then the trip continues. Its not really a sightseeing tour, but more a tick in the box to say I've done it. When I have a bit more time I'll do it again with my significant other and enjoy it properly.

Weather update Stutter. They're saying today to expect an earlier than usual buildup and above average rainfall in October (although average is only 70mm for the month, a couple of good storms will exceed that...) :H :H :H :H

Well the rack arrived last week.
Powdercoating is good and it looks pretty nice. Required a ever so little bit of encouragement to fit one hole, but overall, a sturdy rack and I'd buy off them again.
I'll put up pics when the bike is looking more respectable as it is currently going through a refit for some electrics
