Is this the knock sensor?
« on: March 13, 2021, 02:43:01 PM »
Hi all,
I’ve been having problems with rough running, bad fuel economy, overfuelling, fouled spark plugs primarily on clutch side, f1 code 25, to the point of feeling like stalling at highway speeds when the bike is warm, have done an ecu reset and seemed to help for a little bit but then same problems.  I’ve just taken the plastics off and looking at clutch side, is this the knock sensor connector? It wasn’t connected, plug just hanging.

Probably is, connect it and see what happens.

Looking at this diagram: https://tinyurl.com/y3jp98by it definitely looks like a knock sensor...  :thumbs

Yep, definitely is. There's also one on the other side of the engine.

Good to know those symptoms, but I'm wondering how a plug like that just fell off.  Most plugs on the STs are hard to get of at the best of times.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

Yeah not sure myself, once reconnected it was quite difficult to remove again. My suspicion is the guy I bought it off got the dreaded error 25 and disconnected it. Reconnection didn’t help the symptoms after a test ride yesterday afternoon unfortunately. Might be time for a visit to the shop...
