I have no pic but back in my mid twenties along time ago, i was in my trial first marriage ( 2 years ) we lived in Maryborough Qld and i traveled to Gympie every day for work on my bike. My parents had a cattle property just outside of Gympie on the the way to Maryborough so i use to call in about 6.00am for a cuppa then be at work by 7.30am. In winter by the time i got there mum use to come down and undo my chin strap because i could not feel a thing.Temps there got down to around -5 in winter. Oh yea i am now married  20 years to a wonderful lady, Tracey would have to be wonderful to put up with me this long. Sorry about the long winded story you can all wake up now. :whistle :wht11

Back in the mid eighties I was stopped at Cocklebiddy (on the Nullabor) because it was too hot to travel, (and changing tyres on trucks is as boring as writing out cheques for new ones, and the damage they do when they let go.)

We were sitting on the verandah with the manager who'd just brought out his barometer and showed us the temp which was a moderate 53.2 degrees celcius.

Whilst we were making nodding noises about the situation he stood up and exclaimed 'Sh.t' We followed him to the chook pen and there were all his chooks laying down dead. Under the trees next to the pen were about a dozen small birds feet up and expired.

I spent a few years doing rig shifts all over the top end, but that's about the warmest I've seen registered on a barometer.

I will be in Vancouver BC for 6 weeks at the end of the year(their winter) and will have the use of a Suzuki 500 twin. I expect it to be rather chilly in the Canadian Rockies......Pics to be provided......I promise.

I know it won't be snowing but I'm going through the Bylong Valley 1 June, then onto the back of Goulburn 2 June. All up nearly 1000K of about 5-15 degrees. Thank God for a bigger screen, heated grips and seat. At least the gear is good these days, not like before when you had to shove newspaper in a cloth linen jacket that stunk like bitumen! (Don't miss getting into trouble for staining everything black when visiting Mum!)

No photo again but the lowest temperature at the NZ Brass Monkey rally was minus 14 or minus 17. Drink water bottle was frozen at 10pm, no bedtime coffee and the ride home next day was "interesting" When I hung up my tent to dry on the Tuesday morning, after the tent had been in the shed for two nights, there was still ice wrapped up in the tent. Still keep on going back for more pleasure or punishment, undecieded which.

Coldest I've ever been was in England. Alphafang can understand !!
1972, November 5th. Guy Fawkes night. Always wet and cold !!  Had to ride from London to Camberley (around 70 - 80 kilometers on my naked Bonnie. Freezing fog, melting snow and drizzle  :-[ Worste conditions ever !!  Only had a thin leather on, borrowed two extra T shirts and a thick jumper. Goggles kept freezing and misting up so gave them the flick and settled for ice on my eyebrows (all open faced helmets in those days) - finally got home and sat in a hot bath for an hour just shivering. Then didn't move from in front of the fire for the rest of the night drinking coffee and whiskey. S**T I was cold..
On the opposite side of the coin, last year out the back of Toodyay (WA) was so hot that puting your feet down at a road junction made the inside of the legs start to cook with the heat of the road   :H.
Learnt to stop without taking my feet of the pegs that day  :runyay :runyay.

Once again no pics, but hottest I've been through was riding Sydney to Darwin via Melbourne and Adelaide when I first bought the bike in February 2006.  Kinda glad I didn't have a temp gauge and that I did have my camel back.  Best I drank in a day was 18 litres!!! :H :H :H

Last year i was restricted to riding on 4 wheels instead of 2. However here is a quick snap of me on the bike on a nice balmy day only -13 deg C. I think the coldest i have ridden in was -27 deg C, 65 km/h winds and a light blizzard ( about 100m vis). was a little scary. By the way did i mention i was on sea ice...lol

Sorry Hendo, but it doesn't count.   Go back to the original rules on the first post.   :law  No picture of the temp on your dashboard and it didn't happen.   However, -27 is impressive.   :eek   We may get close to that at Uralla during the Christmas in July.

I have ridden Perth in minus 1 when doing courier work. (Damn cold on the finger tips)
And stupid enough for both the missus and I to get caught up coming home one day when the temp peaked at 45. It also turned out to be the one day no bugger had their sprinklers on when they shouldn't, I was looking for any water source.
We were literally peeling our jackets and cloths off as we walked through the door and spent the next 10 - 15 min sitting on the floor in the shower with the cold water running. (Damn hot)
Regards,
Tom, aka Panman50.

No pic's Diesel as this happened a couple of years ago.

Several times, on the work bike, we've been on patrol and the gauge has hit its highest reading. If you've never seen it you're lucky. The gauge topped out at 50. :eek

DoM gave the temp's at early 40's but on the bike, with reflected heat of the road surface, etc, it was showing 50.

Dave                                                                        :wht13

Feel your pain Poppy Dave, and the service blokes take the heat shielding out of the tanks im sure cos you just cant touch them after a short while if the the air temp is above 30. Many many red inner legs.

Had -5 a few times last year on the way to work at around 5am from the Wheatbelt.

Hey Shiney, you guys up in sunny Qld have had it much colder than we've had recently, in the early mornings that is of course, the days warm up a little more than our days, but the coldest morning we've had in Nubeena this winter is 5 degrees. :grin
There are many paths to the top of the mountain.....but we all need to find our own way!

Was waiting for it to warm up so I could head out and fuel up for this weekends RTE to Uralla/Dorrigo....

Sun came out so I bolted to the servo..... :fp

So this temp is at 4pm with the bike IN the garage after removing its cover.....yep it was colder than this when out of the garage......but I"ll be bugared if I was going to ditch my glove to use my iPhone camera just to prove to you lot how captain crackers I am, suffice to say the sago snow was slippery enough on cold hard tyres  o:)

4o in the garage at 4 PM!

Should be dandy Saturday and Sunday morning!

And I thought 5o forecast for Saturday in sub-tropical Brissie was a tad chilly.

Live it up, folks!      :rofl

You know you're going to win this comp.
I'm happy to let you, since the penalty is to live in Guyra.

Did you beat Stanthorpe's MINUS FOUR?  Pretty good for Queensland, but then we're used to winning stuff...     :whistle

Jan 1st, 2012... cruised from Warragul, Traralgon, Sale, Bairnsdale, Orbost, Eden, Bega, Cooma, Canberra, Cowra to Parkes... 40-something degrees heat and my hands suffered to the point where the skin peeled off in one slab 4 days later.
