This is where I'll be have a pause.... at the bottom of the Gloucester Tree in Pemberton on the first night. I grew up in the area, and now at the ripe old age of 48, wishing I'd climbed it many years ago. I figured this might be the last chance. However, at the risk of curtailing the remainder of the rally, I'll decide whether or not I do it when I have to look at it from below.
:think1

That would not be on my to do list. We did do the tree walk in the Valley of the Giants (near Denmark) and I could feel every step Heather took as she walked on bridges between the trees.

Chris and I were over there a number of years ago and she shot up the Gloucester Tree like a possum.   Coming down and passing those who were either heading up, or had "frozen" and were too scared to move, was the hardest bit.    Me.....  :o  I got about five rungs up, and decided that I had better things to do on that day.

I went up the tree in the early 80s, in my one and only WA trip (so far!)  I think WA has changed a lot since them.

I don't think you'll be the only one.........

It's only a 400km ride for us but we'll still have the trailer as we'll be camping at Middleton.

Sorry guys, I'm a cancellation for the National Rally.  It's only a couple of weeks after the funeral, all the rest of the family will have gone home, so I won't be able to leave my dad without support.

NT has gone from 100% to 0% attendance in a couple of days   >:()

We will all miss you in SA, but supporting your Dad will be so important at such a difficult time.  Take time to grieve, and hug each other lots.

Middleton Caravan Park
Graeme & Jane Vivian
Phone & Fax: 08 8554 2383
E-mail: info@middletoncaravanpark.com.au

If your chasing a bed, post and ask if anyone has a spare bunk, and if you have a room and a spare bunk post it up!

There is plenty of camping space available as well, it will be the perfect time of year for it :)

CAN'T GET A BED AT THE CARAVAN PARK?
You can post to see if anyone has a spare bed in their cabin, or if you are a camper, Jane and Graeme at the park have held some camping sites for us, which are adjacent to the cabins.   For overflow accomodation, you can find nearby local B&Bs which you could share, through the following local agent.  Stinky Pete has been down and had a chat to Kerry, who knows about our Rally and is very happy to assist.

Unfortunately I am probably now unlikely to be able to attend, my daughter has BLACK DOG syndrome and I have to care for my 7yr old grandson. Family comes first.

Streak,
from Yorkie's post looks like he is a doubtful? Yorkie are you still out?

I've just re-organised the trailer.......being just a trip just a little way down the road I tossed most the cooking gear etc as it won't be needed this trip (excess baggage/weight).

Swapped tents over from my 3 man dome to our standing height Dome. I checked trailer bearings for grease etc last week and all ok for now.

IMPORTANT OZSTOC ANNOUNCEMENT FOR RALLY ATTENDEES......

Pls finalise your attendance intentions by adding your name to this thread as an attendee if you are coming. (If it is not already on the list)

Streak and I will have a copy of this list to do a quick head count at Middleton (to make sure all pilots and co-pilots landed safely).

Make a note of either of these two mobile no's or add them to your contacts:    Diesel - 0466 494 334     Streak - 0488 385 858

Pls txt/call one of us if you strike any troubles that will delay you along the way so that you are accounted for.

Same as if you have to pull out just prior.

Streak will put up a final attendees list (by State) so pls, make sure you and your fave pillion are on it.

We do not have all of your mobile/contact no.s, and will be relying on YOU to let US know.

Other than this, have a great ride, enjoy the fresh air, behold the scenery, and stay safe.      :thumb

Cheers,

Saaz, you better leave some recovery time, say Monday and Tuesday, before you head off to Middleton.

If you are thinking of buying a uhf radio soon, then check down the back of the couch and grab it before you head off to Middleton.

Why?

a) very good to listen to the truckies' 'safety' reports along the main corridors;   :whistle
b) great to ask truckies or grey nomads about road conditions 'over their shoulder';
c) fantastic fun on the OzSTOC Super Cruise to lunch during the National Rally to hear all the banter and hijinx  informative and crucial ride information from Members.

Here is a link to the '40' Aussie uhf channels and their main use....

Which CB channel for what?     <----- click there

Here is a link to a great thread started by Whizz if you are looking for more info/discussion on these farkles......

UHF CB Discussion

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Diesel

PS - the official OzSTOC Channel is 13 - so, if you're in range of one - 13 is the 'go to' squawker.
