Looks like one sweet bike.  The music confirms it.  Might get me one of those.

(How many came with Traction Control?)   Saaz??

Only the  ABS models came with the traction control from 92 on (there were standard models from 1990) as the sensors for the ABS were used for the traction control.  Early ones had ABS/TCS, from 96 on the linked brakes also came in with LBS-ABS/TCS (the video says CBS-ABS but the Honda manual refers to LBS-ABS/TCS) and the wider front rim and tyre (same as the ST13, a 120/70-18), and from all accounts much better brakes (and more complicated bleeding of the brakes).  The police model shared the forks with the early ABS model, but did not come with ABS.  I would not mind a later ABS bike for the improved brakes alone.

Don't know why Honda did not keep traction control with the ST13, as with the EFI system it would have integrated very nicely.  While a bit crude, the TCS seems to have worked quite ok.

That ad was for the 96 A model onwards.

Not sure why the manual says LBS for the brakes as all the stickers on the bike say CBS-ABS-TCS. The Traction control is switchable but I leave mine on.

The 1100 was designed by Honda in Germany and given the name Pan European and was marketed as a tourer. Only in Australia, the US and maybe Canada it was sold as a Sport Tourer.

The 1300 was a Japanese effort with input from 1100 riders in an effort to improve the 1100. The 1300 is a touch more sportier and the traction control was removed. The timing belt was replaced with a chain and balance shafts added. However with all the improvements most older 1100 owners didn't go for the 1300..but the younger ones did.

With that history maybe it's a little understandable why we haven't seen a 1300 replacement yet.

I think that combined brakes (CBS) was also used on other Hondas such as the Blackbird and VFR (in certain models)  The engineers might have still liked to call it LBS for some reason, and the marketing/advertising people went with combined braking system (CBS)

From memory, linked brakes at the time seemed to have a bad rap (conservative riders, same as those who say they can brake better than ABS) so combined brakes might have seemed a better label.  Modern linked systems (eg GTR1400) seem more sophisticated as the link only works at certain speeds, but then if it goes wrong may cost a lot to fix.

I must say from the limited test rides I have done on the ST13, the electric screen seems to be the best thing (assuming you are comparing to the later ABS ST1100, as the brakes are much better) and not having to do the timing belt every 155,000kms is ok (not many riders in this situation!).  The VFR1200 though has eyeball banging brakes that I still lust after, even the Goldwing has fantasic brakes.
