I bought SteelMate from Jaycar when I got the 1100, pretty simple to fit and does the job well. It's bloody loud when it goes off that's for sure. I fitted a slightly later model to the missus' bike as well.

I'll tell you how it goes - LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a similar alarm fitted from Cougar with that siren attached.

Be very careful when you fit the connection to the main fuse box so it doesn't leave you with a trouble starting on the side of the road.

The 2003 ST1300 that I bought about 4 months ago has a HISS Honda Integrated Security System(?), that I assume goes off if the steering lock is interfered with. It has a blinking red light. Does it do anything else?

The system that Diesel found looks great value for money. It goes off if the bike is abruptly moved whereas the HISS doesn't I suppose. Is that right?

Hi Gregory - the HISS is merely an immobiliser - no venom in it like a siren etc - This is why your ignition key has a micro chip in it (matched to your bike), so the bike recognises which key has permission to start your bike - and why replacement keys are very expensive......    :cuss

The alarm system appears to have a mercury type switch that will set off the siren if the bike angle is changed when the system is armed.

Hope this helps.

Cheers, Diesel

Thanks Diesel
I ordered the alarm you found , received it today and fitted it in about 10 minutes. Its works really well with 4 settings for senitivity levals and remote settings to turn on /off ,also panic alarms and find your bike alarm ( perhaps after a hard night).
Anyway its early days but first impressions are great.

Did you hook up the starter solenoid option?

I looked at the Jaycar one Tackle bought.  It's $99 but a bit of an over-kill, since it's designed for cars.

I decided not to hook the alarm up to the solenoid , very simply connected the positive to the battery and the negative to the frame. placed the unit where the tool kit sat and to this point very happy with the purchase.
After setting the sensitivity level to where I wanted it , you can touch the bike without it going off , but as soon as you jump on it , or tilt it slightly make sure you have ear protection on.

Many thanks.  It appeals to me because my bike just sits in a carport (albeit under my bedroom window).  Looks like you've sold one for them, just like I sold a book for the "Striking Viking" by selected quotes.

Hi Guys and girls, well I got my Chinese Honda version of the bike alarm today and the installation instructions are simply WILD!!!

For example, I will copy absolutely verbatim a couple of the set up instructions, remember these are EXACTLY how they are written. I also had to scan the bit of paper and blow it up to 400% before I could actually READ it!:

"Anti-Hijacking:
Motorcycle battery lock while in motion or opened, the touch of the remote control A button, Button Lock, Horn Blew, the direction of light Jishan, while locomotive power, can not start; press of the B button before the remote control lift he alarm, press the remote control no effect on other key devices."

another;

"Remote Start:
Motorcycle in the normal state (the parking stall, the door lock off), or security alert, in two seconds, double-click remote control of the D key, the motorcycle immediately press the power, if, due to cold or motorcycle battery voltage is low, and sometimes motorcycle will not start up, shall start with the key motorcycle, or motorcycle battery electric impulse."

and these warnings;

"Attention;
1) The remote control is a precision manufacturing, please do not Zhoungshuai or flooding.
2) Find the remote control when the remote control or the remote control from the shorter the lamp dims, replace the remote control batteries.
3) Motorcycle brake lights not working, please replace
4) Has been in a motorcycle when the engine starts, do not press the remote start button otherwise the fuse will burn out motorcycle."

And there's two full pages of this drivel. Well worth $5.00! If anyone is interested I can send them full copies of the instructions and wiring diagram, which is also almost unintelligible!

I am very tempted to drop this straight in the bin!
