First day in BKK after a week of honeymooning on Phuket Island. Then a quick stop over for two days shopping, then back to Sai Gon.

Uyen is 100% Vietnamese. 
Buddhist, Kind, Sweet, Thoughtful, Tender, Peace Loving, very smart and extremely well educated, even more beautiful on the inside than the outside.
 - - - Of course I'm somewhat prejudice 
The Gods only knows what she sees in me !    That photo doesn't do her justice at all, I'm just a lousy photographer.      
 
The staff at the Phuket resort knew where we came from of course, and often had fits of the giggles whenever another local, who didn't know, tried to speak to Uyen - in Thai.

One of the wonderful Thai ladies from the resort knocked on our door one morning and presented Uyen with a custom printed T-shirt that read, in Thai, -
" I am Vietnamese "  Under that line was printed - " Ban co noi tieng Viet ? " ( "Do you speak Vietnamese ?" )  Also translated into Thai.
    

She's even stopped me swearing, smoking and being bad tempered ! 
Someone once said - " There's nothing like the love of a good woman. "   

That's got to be the understatement of all time !

Hi Brock, 

We had a great time - once we got away from the 'tourist' traps ! 

The BIG (GIANT) BUDDHA on top of the Nakkerd Hills !  WOW ! 45 meters high !   We didn't have the time to get all the way up close to it ! 
I try not to be prejudice - but mate - - - the bloody Russians have taken over most of Phuket, the resorts, etc.   
Most of them treat the local Thai's like dirt !         Most of the road side advertising is in Russian - with a bit of Thai wording underneath.   
 
Nothing like getting in a taxi or tuk-tuk in BKK either !
Ask the driver to take you straight to a shopping center like 'CENTALWORLD'  (Uyen never wanted to leave 'ZEN's shop) and having the driver stop part way there, telling you he is taking you to his 'friend's', 'uncle's', 'cousins', whatever,  factory / shop where he will get you the  "best deals - 30 - 50 % off. "   
We had that happen half a dozen times in a row just trying to get to Chatuchak market from our hotel.
Each time after 10 long minutes, or more, of saying - " NO ! Take us straight to market - nowhere else."  We either ended up at the driver's 'friend's', 'uncle's', 'cousin's', whatever, business or got out of the vehicle and looked for another ride.

Something you probably wouldn't get with your wife being Thai.         But most of it was good fun, except for the heat that day, and it certainly was an experience not to be missed out on. (just that one time)

Uyen wants to go back to BKK, when we can afford it, taking her younger sister and niece with her next time, to go shopping just in 'CENTALWORLD', the 'ZEN' store mainly, and another day at the Chatuchak markets !   

( Anyone know next Saturday's winning lotto numbers ??? PLEASE ! )

Unfortunately Flip, the Russian Mafia is spreading in Thailand. It will eventually ruin the good resorts I think.

The Taxis all have a relative that owns a shop of some sort, they get a commission from sales. I dont normally use taxis, but my wifes uncles cousin drives a taxi in BKK, and we use him if needed. Unfortunately he doesnt speak english.
