I dropped into Toowoomba Honda today and they have just received a 2008 Grey ST1300 sold by them in 2010
with only 13,000km on it, It has a genuine Top Box but otherwise standard and waiting to be farkled
I have asked Steve Andrew's for a photo, (Hopefully Tomorrow)
The bike is yet to be detailed. It has new Pirelli Angles and I think has just been serviced
$12,000. rego is about to run out so the new owner can get 6 or 12 months or sold interstate

Even though it's very low kays, it's a few years old and not the best colour.
I'd want it "ride away, no more to pay" for $12K.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

It looks like a beautiful, low mileage blank canvas, and 2008 was the last major update of the 1300.   The dollars seem a little high, but you're getting what is essentially a new bike.   :thumb

Owning a low km 2008 I may be a little biased, but I think the price, specially with new tyres and Honda Top Box is good . Remember dealers have to charge GST (why I can't understand) and as StinkyPete points out being an 08 it has the last of the upgrades.

A dealer will get a GST input credit for vehicles traded in, so the net GST will be the margin (profit) on the difference between trade and sale price.  Any additions or labour used will also get a GST input credit.

I paid full 10% on sale price for my GL1500 which had been traded on a Spyder.
Also paid paid full 10% when buying my sons car from a dealer.

The reality that my bike is worth next to nothing as a trade in really does not come as a shock, but it's a bitter pill to swallow all the same.I can fully understand why this is so from a retail resale perspective.Only we know how much life is left in them.
I was not surprised to be given a ball park figure of 2 to 3k on this near new bike.

I accidently came across a blue 04 with 66k on it this afternoon when driving past my local bike shop on the way home from rally drinkypoo shopping.
I walked after they dropped it to $6200 on the change over (from $6500) on a $7999 sticker price.
I don't want to give it away but seeing it go to a good home would be the ideal result i guess  >:()

If you can keep her STimpy, you will then have a supply of spares at your disposal, if and when you need them.  :think1

But, it comes down to disposable cash, storage etc.

Living expenses are low with the downside of not much space.

It's economies of scale i guess.More room = more money.

Oh to be living in the 70's/80's with cheap big houses and cbx thou's aplenty  :'(

Hey Duncan, if storage is a problem you can house it here while it sells. May not be the best location for viewing etc but the offer is there.

If your able to purchase a new bike and sell off the old privately is one option but yes I agree, don't givenit away, there is still some value in the old girl even as an entry level into the ST arena.

Good luck Duncan, I hope you get the result you want.
