Exploding Head Syndrome
« on: April 15, 2023, 08:41:22 PM »
I didn't know if I should post this under "Jokes" or "Members Health"

In the early hours of the morning a couple of days ago I was woken by a MASSIVE explosion.   First I thought it was lightning and thunder over the house, but the sound wasn't quite right, and then I thought that my shed had been blown up by a former client, but there was no sounds of falling debris or other post demolition sounds.   It was huge and woke me with a severe start.  No follow-up sirens were heard.   Stangely neither the dog or Chris hadn't stirred, and the shed was still intact, so the mystery of the massively loud Ker-Fu#$@&%-Boom remained.     In the morning I checked facebook for any reports of a local disturbance.....   Nothing.

A search for dreamed or imagined explosions turned up the wonderfully named "Exploding Head Syndrome".
See  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploding_head_syndrome   and   https://sleepeducation.org/sleep-disorders/exploding-head-syndrome/

I haven't stopped chuckling about it since, and the family reckons it's a great name for what I experienced.  There's lot's of info about EHS on the web.  :grin

Yep, another symptom of advanced age.  Enjoy them all!
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

The one I seem to be suffering from is Auto-brewery syndrome.  It sounds like something Cerebral Knievel would come up with but I discounted that on the fact that you have to be dry.  :nahnah

That’s really interesting Pete.  I can relate.  While not at the H-bomb level that you experienced, I can admit to being woken by a loud noise and wondering why neither Ruth nor the cat were affected.  The fact that it has a real name helps me to maintain the illusion that I’m not losing my marbles.

I actually spent the day on my hands and knees, searching for a few wayward marbles, while chuckling to myself.   It was not a good look.

LOL. That's a great mental picture you've painted there.

Begs the question … did you find them? You may be happier without them.
