Another OzSTOC Rider in hospital.....
« on: April 25, 2013, 12:45:37 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I just got word from Kev (SKIP) that he had suffered a heart attack and has been rushed to Prince Charles Hospital where went straight from the ambulance to the chopping block!     :eek

Kev said that there was NO warning, and NO history of this in his fam.

He is in recovery now and will post up his progress sometime next week when able.

In the meantime, once again, we all wish you a speedy recovery, and simply holler if you need anything mate.

Cheers, Diesel

Looks like we're wearing out faster than our motorbikes!!
As Streak says, sounds like he's on the mend.  Good for the engine to get maintenance, but preferably scheduled.
We'll keep an eye on you, Skip.

Good luck Skip,

Mate, I had a heart attack out of the blue last September, and if you survive, it is a wake up call to your lifestyle and as good as anything guide to what u should be doing to live many years longer. Made me think that I have to do the things that I took for granted as a kid, ie,  exercise in a variety of ways.

Hope all goes well for you.  :hatwave

Thoughts are for you Kev. Just been through the recovery period myself.

Keep the chin up and attack each day as a new experience - which it will be, trust me.

Once you get into the swing of the get over it dance, life's back to OK.

(AND you'll live to ride another day!!)

Just got back from visiting Skip.  He's been offered Parole tomorrow for "good behaviour" but the Parole Board have yet to confirm that.
He had a "spell" while mowing the lawn and went inside and sat down.  When things didn't improve (heaviness in the chest) he was wheeled in and they found one artery 100% blocked.  So now he has one STent and one ST13.
I took the list of members who had sent their good wishes so you are assured he knows y'all care.
If he doesn't get a leave ticket tomorrow, he'll be in Bed 5, Ward 1A at Prince Charles Hospital, Chermside.

This activity is unapproved, ( mowing the lawn, and having heart atacks)

Get well soon...

I put my heart under stress this morning by attending the Dawn service at Hellfire Pass  (near river Kwai). It involved a 20 min walk down a million steps and a walk on the railbed gravel at 0430 Local in 30+ heat. 40 min later, had to reverse the trip in 30++ . The stairs is hard yakka.

All the best for a speedy recovery Skip, just make sure you listen to those docs about when you can ride again.  I know a couple of guys who jumped back on the bike too soon and made their recovery time that much longer.
