Well I'm home sitting at the pooter, all be it a little breathless and shaky, but very thankful
Firstly I just want to say what a great bunch of people you all are.
Thanks for the well wishes and thoughts.
As has been reported, I had a heart attack while mowing my lawn on Tuesday. I was on holidays with the plan of heading of to Adelaide and surrounds for a few days with my gorgeous wife. Fortunately we were on holidays as my wife spends her week in Perth for work, working on the new hospital being built over there.  :-(((  And no you smart alec's, she's not a rigger or construction worker.
Anyways, if she had not been home I may not have been so lucky. Had I been home alone, i would have called the ambo's but they are 10 minutes away if a unit was available. We have a Medical Centre 2 minutes walk from our house, although my lovely didn't make me walk there, so she threw me in the car and took me there. They took me straight to a treatment room and started working on me and called a Code 1 for the paramedics.   :phone
I don't remember much other than the crippling pain in my chest. After the paramedics did what they needed to do, I was taken to Prince Charles Hospital where i was taken straight from the ambulance to 'the table'. From the on-set to the finished STENT procedure, it was only 1 and half hours which was pretty remarkable. I had a 100% blockage in one of the arteries which necessitated the urgent attention.
I feel pretty good although the medication has caused some dizzily spells and one episode of passing out completely, presumably because of low blood pressure that is required so as not to stress the heart with a higher than necessary blood pressure.
Once again, thanks to everyone.
I'll pop on line once in a while, but I will be lying low for some time and unfortunately, no riding for an even longer time.
Best regards.
Kev.

Hey Skip. Glad to hear your doing so well.

I had a couple of stents in 1999 myself. Talkng to some of the other patients I've discovered everyone finds their own level of energy during recovery.

If I can offer you some advice that was given to me. Just let your body come back on line as it feels to. There'll be good days and bad days. Don't let either rule you. Just go with the flow
It's amazing technology but we're still human.

Now you've done your first 48 hours, from what I've seen from others and my own recovery, you'll be fine.

Mate, you've just been given another 25 years of life. Enjoy. Look forward to seeing you on a ride.

Good onya Skip.

Interesting that there was no warning and no history of this. Does this serve as a warning to us all to get regular check ups? I guess so.

Thanks for sharing mate - we are all grateful it has turned out a lot better than it otherwise could have. And thanks for the update.

Take care mate - and we can't wait to see you terrorising the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Kangaroos again.

Cheers, Diesel

Pretty dramatic way to come up with an OzSTOC post, Skip!
Be sure to keep checking in with progress reports.
For the modern man who lives in the city, riding a bike might be one of the only ways to escape the humdrum monotony. To take off and ride. To be both at one with nature and one with the bike. To feel masculine. Adam Piggott

I'll join those wishing a speedy recovery.
But with everyone shocked abt this unexpected event, how many will sit down and look at their lifestyle and start taking the preventative measures.
Betcha not many but  judging by the faces and body shapes seen at the RTE's a majority of us are right in the danger zone.
Suppose it's like everything else,eh. We hear abt others but until we get the wakeup call it can be put on the backburner.
Never under estimate the predictability of stupidity.

Cripes Skip, what ya been doing to ya self. I always thought mowing was dangerous and you've confirmed that now. So glad to hear that you got through this Ok and are on the mend. Marvelous what they can do these days to fix a dodgy ticker ain't it?
All the best from Marissa and I for a full recovery.

Just noted what you wrote here Ian. It is so true. Sad, but true. So many of us take our health for granted until something bad happens.

Hi all. A week since my last post.  :well   Slack I know.
Well, I am feeling remarkably well. Being watched like a hawk by my own personal nurse.  :nahnah
I feel I'm well enough to join the next RTE but apparently that's not permitted. Can I get a second opinion on that ????
Anyways thanks again to all the well wishers and I will see you on the blacktop real soon.
Cheers.
