2023 - National Rally - Ride Planning Victoria to Mudgee
« on: May 14, 2023, 02:15:15 PM »
This thread is for those planning to ride from, or through, Victoria to Mudgee.

With only 148 more sleeps to go (before I leave), it's never too early to plan early.

I'm planning to leave on Monday 9 October, ride a motorcycle interesting route, something like ...
https://goo.gl/maps/7u45cj4WUdTbNH119

Overnights in pubs at Tallangatta, Cooma, Boorowa and arrive Thursday.  Ride company welcome.  Route and overnight stays flexible, to some extent, providing the overall intent of the above route is maintained.

Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

Afterlife, up there for the climate, down there for the company.
If I'd known I was gunna live this long, I woulda looked after myself better

Definitely interested in joining with you on the ride to Mudgee in October Michael.
Would likely meet up with you at Violet Town on the Monday along with Gordo who expressed that being a possibility for him too whilst we were at the RTE in Kooweerup on Sunday.
Valerie may well be coming along as a pillion, it will depend on how she is travelling health wise nearer the time.
Registered for Mansfield earlier tonight, will arrange accommodation for same tomorrow, Denis & Dianne are intending to be there as well, we will share a two bedroom cabin if possible.
A very pleasant RTE at Kooweerup last Sunday, thanks to the organiser.
Cheers
Neil & Valerie

Hi Neil, there's been some refinement and a bit more thought been put into the Road to Mudgee.  The current thoughts are:

Tuesday 10 Oct - Home to Tallangatta
Wednesday 11 Oct - Tallangatta to Booroowa
Thursday 12 Oct - Booroowa to Wilberforce
Friday 13 Oct - Wilberforce to Mudgee

See pics.

And there are some nice riding roads enroute as well. And, the overnight destinations are inviting with cold beers and (at Booroowa) Guiness on tap.

Hi Michael,
Your last 3 posts have all gone to Valerie’s  phone.
Both of us have tried  to forward them on to my iPad but it’s all a bit of a dark art to these two old dinosaurs.
Can you revert to your original RIDE PLANNING - VICTORIA TO MUDGEE thread so that alll comments, suggestions & details remain in the same folder that I /we can keep up with.
If this is all a bit of a pain in the rrrrs give me a call - keep it simple.
We will be back at our place next week, thinking the route and daily ride times are manageable,
Only 46 more sleeps so bookings are very relevant, shame about the Guinness on Tap Inn being booked out- who knows, could be a motel next door with a heated pool!!!
Cheers
Neil

Here we go, from the Facebook Group.

Accommodation Update:

*  No response from Tallangatta Hotel.

*  Response received from Victoria Hotel Tallangatta, as follows ....

"We do have rooms available for that night.
Single room rate is $50p/p
Twin share room is $80 per room working out to $40p/p.
The rooms are basic pub accommodation - communal bathrooms and rooms have a bed and basin only."

Sounds good to me.  Will confirm two rooms - unless I hear otherwise.  Rooms can be added or deleted if more or less are riding.

Cheers,  Williamson (AKA Michael)

And then this:

Response received from Booroowa Hotel ....

"You can have room 6, this has theee beds, a double and two singles and room 5 that has a double for you @$195".

Again, pretty good, will confirm two rooms - unless I hear otherwise.  Rooms can be added or deleted if more or less are riding.

And this:

The Heritage Hotel also responded, they cannot accommodate us.  I've messaged other hotels / motels.  Will post any positive advice.

Then, from the alternative to above:

Got an email from the Alexander the Great Motel just near Windsor (3.5km from the south end of The Putty Road).  Family room for five $50 per head.  Might be a bit crowded if Val is joining us, per N & V could get a double.

Phil & I stayed at Alexander the Great on the way home from Wooli, very good accommodation and a top Chinese restaurant on-site.

The Booroowa Hotel is the one with Guinness on tap.  No pool or spa, but a huge common gents bathroom.
